I would have expected most GMs to answer this question by not directly answering whether or not it's actually possible he moves one of his stars. His response, without the last two sentences is how I think all GMs would have answered which has me thinking Allvin, Rutherford and Tocchet have already discussed and decided internally that Pettersson won't be a Canuck for long once an offer they like comes through.

Quote:
Sportsnet: You do have an out on that contract because Pettersson’s trade protection doesn’t start until next season. But is moving your 26-year-old star actually possible?

Allvin (smiling): Well, you know Jim's history.#

We want to build a team that sets us up for long-term success. Building around the long-term deals with Miller and Petey, having Quinn and Demko locked up, Filip Hronek and Jake DeBrusk, I mean, those are big pieces. Petey has shown up to this point that he is an extremely talented, quality player that could and should be a No. 1 centre. I believe in him. I believe that he's capable. (But) he needs to mature and understand that there are certain expectations and it does not get easier. And you need to face the music when things don't go well. Is it (a trade) possible? I guess I would say anything is possible.

Reading Brian Burke’s book on the beach. Not a bad read.

Stories about acting for Joel Otto, crazy lawsuit against the Russians in a Michigan court to sign Pavel Bure and his time with and admiration for Ken King and the Flames.

Former Flame and Canuck shares some insight into the Miller - Pettersson stuff and confirms that yes, there's an issue between the two guys because Miller is too hard on Pettersson and that makes Pettersson shut down.

Pettersson is almost 6 years younger than Miller and is in his prime at 26 years old, if you need to trade anybody, it has to be Miller.

Canucks are kind of in a win now window and I think Miller will take them further than Pettersson. Pettersson is a good talent but isn't the type of player that would drag a team on his back to win like Miller. He looks like more of a complementary player on a Stanley Cup team. I just don't see any leadership qualities with that guy.

In a perfect scenario, you keep both guys and try to find a way to work it out, but it just seems like oil and water at this point. Would a JT Miller for Mika Zibanejad trade make sense for both teams? Zibanejad seems to be on the outs with the Rangers and Vancouver likes their Swedish players.

That deal does make sense but I think the Canucks could get a + if they did that deal. Same age similar contracts so I can see that deal having some merit. Krieder+ for Miller might also work?

It would be wild if the Canucks moved both.

Miller for Zibenijad
Pettersson for Byram and Cozens.

lol that window slammed into their no good faces last year when they couldn't score a PP goal against the Oilers.

You aren’t winning anything if you’re paying complementary players $11.6M, unless you have two stars on ELCs. Another negative value deal.

Some people called it but it sure looks like the Canucks are having a similar experience as the Flames had under Treliving. Follow up a super promising and surprising season with a dud. Flames did this for a near decade under Tree. A good year raised expectations and they would be brought back down to earth. Vancouver shocked quite a few folks last year when it all seemed to click for them and this year they find themselves back on the bubble.

Quinn Hughes is tired of the beef between the 2 players now too according to Friedman because it's spilling into other parts of the team. I'm guessing this gets dealt with very soon with Hughes weighing in...

Any link to this?
I'd like to send it to my Canuck friends who still think the beef is made up.

I like the cut of your jib!

You're going to probably need to listen to the interview he got this from (FAN Hockey Show), but he doesn't lie, even though he annoys Canuck fans. He transcribes what guys say on the various podcasts.

Also, as for your friends who believe this is being made up, there's the Richardson interview where he confirms it, the Boudreau interview as well and Hughes and Allvin also acknowledged the beef the same morning that Pettersson and Miller were interviewed later in the day when they both denied any issues.
