One of the all time greats in the CFL has retired in Eddie Davis.

Jojuan Armour has called it a career. BC now has only 2 Linebackers. Moreno to BC seems like a logical move now.

Davis and Armour solid careers, Davis is very likely going to the hall.
Armour was huge in the Stamps Grey Cup run.

Salary Cap cuts are the stories of the week so far. Eskimos and Winnipeg did their stuff this week releasing/trading several veteran players.

Not a CFL fan but found this interesting:

Apparently they are going to change the CFL OT rules. If you get a TD, you have to go for a 2 point convert.

I like the rule change; doesn't really affect the strategy, but reduces the amount of games that will end in ties.

I am all for the rule change in OT. These way we will still some exciting finish and might end up seeing less ties. Anything that will make the game exciting I am all for.
There is not a lot of news of signing in the CFL these days. We have some odd news like March Tressman winning coach of the year, Wes Cates agent saying Cates had an offers from 2 other teams Hamilton and Winnipeg I believed but are willing to stay in Saskatchewan. Then another news about DE Gavin Walls apparently filing grievance for Als releasing him. He claims that he is still injured and Als cannot release him. It all comes down to paying the bonus money.
No news on the Stamps pursuit of kicker to replace Sandro just yet. Not a lot of them available though. I am not very familiar of Nick Setta (formerly of Hamilton) because I don't see a lot of Eastern games. How is he as a kicker? I am sure Calgary drafted a kicker a few years back but I cannot remember the name.

Considering I never watched a single CFL game last year (regular season or playoffs) I doubt that's the case. I just thought i'd post useful information for fans who were fans of the league. I'll stop doing that now and won't post in the thread anymore.

I was surprised when the Cats' let go of Setta, but it all made sense when the news about their new kicker came down. Setta stood out to me, for good reasons, last season. I hope the Stampeders are able to bring him in the fold. As you mentioned earlier, there's not available in terms of decent kickers.

hey don't worry about it Oilfan, i think maybe his point was that you always point out you aren't a CFL fan..why? should we care? It's great when anyone posts CFL news in this thread, CFL fan or not (or even an oiler fan ), just not sure why you always need to tell us you aren't a CFL fan. but keep posting

BC Lions just signed QB Casey Printer for 2 years contract plus an option on the 3rd year. I can see QB Jarious Jackson heading to Toronto Argonauts anytime soon. Jackson might be more attractive to Toronto than Buck Pierce because of Pierce's concussion problem.

would love to know how much he signed for, but prob in the 300-400k range. I agree on Jackson, Toronto will be going for him (maybe both, they don't have any qbs with CFL experience at the moment)

They don't have any QB period. Jarious Jackson makes sense for them. He is a good QB just inconsistent. I think Barker can make him play consistently in TO. Although Buck Pierce have more upsides but he's got some concussion problem. One hit he might retire or something.
In other news, Als signed Matthew Proulx, Gavin Walls who they released last week were signed as well. The Stamps are looking for a kicker preferably non-import because of the ratio thing. Nick Setta is an American so he will be the last resort for the Stamps. FB Teyo Johnson is back in town working out. He is a UFA waiting for a team to sign him. He said he still have ambition to sign in the NFL but he is ok to sign with the Stamps if they come calling.
