huh? Tkachuk just turned 21 a few weeks ago. He has over 150pts already. He's done nothing but produce, be a solid player, hard to play against, an antagonist. How is his performance not sustainable?
Lindholm is a classic case of a talent looking for a good spot to land in which he will be used properly. He came off two successful seasons in Carolina seemingly primed to take a bigger step. One could presume there will be drop off, its possible, but he's young and its certainly possible his results could be sustainable.
As Oilers fans we don't want to admit that Calgary is quietly adding very solid players to their core. If either Tkachuk or Lindholm were here producing these kinds of numbers we'd be all over the moon about what gems these were and how Chia is a genuine genius.
I agree with you on the goaltending aspect. But Flames through the decades have been good at finding some gold there as well. I do think they adopt the right approach by trial and error with goalies and trying as many as possible. You never know with goalies who will pan out. Its not like we're in any better spot in net.

Do any of the older guys like me think of Mike Smith like the 1980's Grant Fuhr? He would give up 4 or 5 a game but always made that one key save to hold a win.

Except that he doesn’t
He’s given up terrible goals at important moments

True that -- he was in"Fuhr"iating....especially in games against us. Some of the stops he would make bordered on the insane. Couldn't stand him.

Fuhr was never as intense as Smith

Just watching the Ram post game show, Bennett is so good with the kids, between the kid he gave the stick to and his last Junior reporter, it's great to see.

I don't know...this was very much an 80's game, lot's of back and forth, both goalies made big saves. Those goalies back then just weren't that good compared to now, so it is hard to compare.
I think it would be really difficult for an 80's team to score if they were to travel in time to now. Not only are the players way bigger and faster with far greater endurance, but the goalies can make unreal saves and are so agile.
I couldn't stand Fuhr as an Oiler, and I never accepted him as a Flame. It is what it is.
The Flames are going to catch Tampa and win the President's Trophy.
Hell no, I want no part of that. Only one team went on to win the cup after the President's trophy in the last decade (Hawks), I'd rather the Flames went into the playoffs without that kind of target on their back
Andersson with another great game in his end but also in the offensive zone. They ended up playing real well. Just a great goal from Bennett- the pass the skate to stick to controlling bouncing puck then shooting top shelf.

They are amazing.
He was one of only 3-4 with a solid effort for the whole game.

Though the Flames won both once, and that was of course the cup year. Would be a good omen.

The last time the Flames won the Cup, they were also the President's Trophy winner.
So after watching most of the game and not reading the GT or most of the PGT, I have to say I still have little trust in Smith. He is still cringeworthy. He just isn’t good, he won’t get better, we have to run with Riddich! I know BSD can’t play all the games but something has to give and I hope we trade Smith or #### him down somehow. We can’t keep having to score 5+ a game when he is playing in order to win.
Loved that Neal and Benny were feeling it tonight, it is so great to see that line playing well together. Imagine if those guys can get it going consistently?
Janko on the PK is amazing.
Oh Captain, my Captain. I love you Gio, you are one amazing non-all star defensemen! How? How is he not an all star this year? Makes little sense.
By golly I love this team, what a fun season. It is simply amazing how great a knowledgeable coach can be.
Stanley cup contenders... I haven’t been convinced until tonight that we are ready for a run.
