Mentioning something which he himself made very very public here is not a threat, it’s a reminder (as Hockeyguy said).
And, as I explained to pylon when he PM’d me asking me if it was a threat, no, it wasn’t, it was a reminder that things on the internet are not said in a vacuum, less when you’re easily identifiable. He admitted as much, and said he doesn’t care. He even told me to come by and talk to him and gave me his phone number. It’s not some secret.
Which is the problem. When you make yourself public AND say some pretty inflammatory things about a dead person when their family members could easily A) read this board and B) find your place of work easily, you’re only setting yourself up for potential trouble if those things cross paths.
I’m not the mafia, this isn’t a “nice family, would be a shame if something happened to them” comment. It’s a “Your job is public, people dealing with the death of a family member can figure it out, don’t increase the risk of making things difficult for yourself.” And considering it’s happened before, it’s doubly worth reminding.
People should be mindful of the things they say on the internet. There is a history of “personal life” and “internet life” intersecting, and that risk is 10-fold when your personal life is out there for anyone to see.
