Pretty intense Jagr discussion on 960 this morning. Pinder defending Jagr. Boomer and Rhett questioning him. Good radio.

He's 45, hasn't practiced with a team all summer. Boomer and Rhett think he might not be that great of a contributor - but could be. Pinder seems to think he is a lock for 40 points.

Pinder was saying Jagr should be a 0.5 point per game player, Boomer and Rhett were saying he's a year older and that wasn't a reasonable expectation. They were discussing what would be a good showing for Jagr.

Somewhere in the 25-35 point wheel house which is pretty darn good for expectations IMO. Considering he's on a million dollar contract. We want to hang Brouwer for that because of a 4.5 million dollar contract.
I love that Jagr is a Flame but I'm airing on the side of caution and calling it a novelty more than anything. with a pinch of on ice coach added in.
If he can roll crazy with Bennett and nab 40-50 points then it's a darned win all day long and twice on Sundays.

Well, 2 million considering those bonuses are pretty easy to achieve. But I agree with the rest.

I'm a diehard Jagr fan.... and I think 0.5ppg would be huge if he were to hit that mark but lets temper our expectations.
Anything over 15G + 15A is gravy IMO.
I doubt he plays every night and the only way he hits 40 points is if he gets quality and consistent shifts, line mates and power play time. And he needs to stay health.
Hope I'm wrong and he hits 25+25 haha.

I think if he put up 15/15 playing on Bennett's line I'd be satisfied. I expect probably 15/20 depending on PP time. Really I am hoping half his value is seeing Bennett push 40 points.

As long as he helps Bennett develop that's all I care about, point totals be damned.

I just saw Jagr at Starbucks this morning. He was walking around the hotel lobby waiting for the Flames car probably. Nobody was bothering him. Seemed like nobody even noticed except for me.

Exactly, if Benny has a good year with Jagr on his wing then it was a good move

I think 45 points in 70 games isn't out of the ordinary.

I think it's a good move for sure, just having a shooter tutor for Benny.

It sounds like he had an off-season where he didn’t do a lot of preparation which was not his norm. I’m a little worried at his age he may not be able to bounce back and get to his level of last season.

So, does sureness start a new thread for his second practice, or just post about it here?
In the New World Order of suffocating, wall-to-wall Pukie McPukehead coverage I find solace in the 24-7 existence of Jaromir Jagr in a Flames jersey.

Based on how he sounds in interviews, sure seems like he'll need some time but who knows. I figured we see his first game next Friday vs Sens.
