The Napolean units are expensive but in my opinion worth the cost as they have a lifetime warranty, made in Canada (assuming you buy from BBQ Galore, Costco sells China made ones which use thinner gauge steel), and are very capable and well built.

Mine came with a $150 mail in rebate which is probably the closest thing to on sale.
Trail Appliances is having a sale on Napoleon grills at the moment and I have a question for the experts, are the ones at Trail appliance the Canadian made units or the Chinese ones?

I would guess they are the Canadian ones however it would probably be best to ask them.

What is the normal price or MSRP? My understanding thats the easiest way to figure it out.

I bought a similar "made in Canada version" of the Napoleon grill and it is very good. While the actual unit is robust 304 stainless steel, the spit rod is definitely not as it started to rust after 1 month suggesting that they are likely mixing in accessories that are made in China with poor quality 430 steel. It's a minor complaint because Napoleon was very good about replacing the parts free of charge, but it does make me wonder if they cut corners somewhere on the unit.

I would also recommend upgrading the stock grill on the sizzle zone/sear burner from cast iron to the stainless steel one. Much less maintenance, no rust, and less likely to get thick burnt lines where the meat touches the grill.

Ive used my spit rod for the rotisserie many times over the past year and it hasn't developed any rust. You must have been unlucky with the one you got.

Yeah I'm hoping it was just a bad batch (purchased this spring) so I don't have to go through the same thing with the replacement, but I haven't used it yet to know.
