Sure. Say 2 attractive girls are fawning over each other in public. Would you have a problem with it then?

You are not being forced to "watch".

I was going to suggest getting an ipod. It makes everything that much easier to tune out. Or better still, get a car. This way if anyone starts making googly eyes and somehow end up tangled up like socks having a party in the dryer you can stop the car and be like "whoa. GET OUT OF MY CAR" and then you drive away. Problem solved.

Yah I have been on the train during rush hour. I know it's packed, i know there is no room, and I know you are already grumpy from being packed in like sardines. Hell, I have had people puke/piss/ themselves 2 feet away from me. Does it suck? Yep. Can I do anything about it? Nope. So I don't let it bother me.

Well, I'm not a zen master I guess.
Seems to me that if the people around you have to turn around, wear headphones or make a concerted effort to ignore what you are doing, you are probably doing something wrong, and you should probably stop doing it.

well if you let things that you have no control over bother you, everything is going to bother you, and you are going to turn into a curmudgeon

I can see how puking, pissing or fighting can be considered as things NOT to do in public. No arguments about that. But kissing? Common, have we become that much of a prudish society when something as inocent as kissing or making googly eyes upsets people that much. I won't deny that when overdone it can be annoying as hell, but they're not harming anyone. I can see how it would be a problme if the person's involved starting showing their cash and prices, but what's wrong with a little tongue?

a simple kiss now and again is not what (at least in my case) this is talking about. It's the couples with locked tongues...And the baby talk. God don't get me started on the baby talk. Act your age.

I don't have control over NHL referees or child abusers, but they bother me too.
Is it curmudgeonly or prudish to believe that grown adults should not be making out on a crowded LRT? Maybe to Bob Guccionne, but not me.

I agree with the OP, PDA is annoying as hell. I only say this because two former friends of mine spent half their time tongue wrestling and being around them became increasingly more embarrassing. You would be in the middle of a conversation with them and BAM out of nowhere they would be rounding second base right before your eyes. God ceased to exist. Tongues were clearly visible slobbering about, the occasional noise was uttered; it would get so intense that saliva would start coming out. The school even came up with a rule that two people had to be six inches apart at all times, and it coincided with an increase of this habit of theirs. So we're fairly certain it was because of them.
I now cannot stand PDA in any way, unless its to say hello or goodbye.

I have to say not to long ago I saw two of the ugliest people in the world making out with each other on a bus. The girl was to say the least hideous, the guy was oooooh yuck, I heard a banjo playing in the background as incest was taking place.
This was disturbing. They did everything on that bus beyond screwing each other.
Hey if they are a happy couple great, get some manners though. If they were a good looking couple I might have thrown some loonies at them, kidding.
I dont need to see this on a bus ride home from work. I have had a long day and never in a good mood riding the bus for 3 hours.
Those that dont take transit should shut up. Live the experience first.

What if it is in a bar/pub? Is that more acceptable? I mean, if you are drunk, anything goes, right?
But no, in general, I don't like PDA. And I don't like subjecting others to PDA. Even at a private residence, I would rather not make out while others are in the room.

The phrase "get a room" exists for a reason.
I agree with the OP. Displaying affection doesn't bother me, but yeah, but there is nothing more annoying than being stuck near two idiots making out on the c-train.
But then, I've never cared much for people who are completely oblivious to the world around them.

Me too, and I find them disgusting. Get a damn book and write things down, or better yet, just remember stuff. Why do people have to act like they're so special because they have a fancy piece of technology that they use to control their lives?
Get out of my face with your damn PDAs!

I don't mind people holding hands or having arms around each other. Little pecks are also fine in my book as well. When me and my girlfriend are out we never make out or do anything more then just little quick kisses and it's not a constant thing. When people make out and put there hands in the secret spots in public I think it's not really the best thing to be doing but I just brush it off cause like it has been stated in this thread you are not being forced to watch or anything.

I was once walking through a slow-moving, shoulder-to-shoulder crowd. There was this one couple in front of me, and about every minute or two, the guy would slap his girl's butt. Holy awkward. I had to witness this for about 20 mins until I was finally able to reach the exit stairs.

I don't mind it if it's two women kissing, and then slowly they caress each other, then they accidentally spill a bucket of water on each other's thin white t-shirts, then they kiss some more, and...and...
...wait, what was the question again? I got distracted there.
