Default Anyone see the new Rob Zombie Halloween movie?

the original is one of my all time favourites ... I want to look forward to a remake done by an intersting guy, and think the prequel angle to the first half of the movie will be great but remakes often suck

reviews have been mixed (mostly negative, but that's par for the course for horric flicks).

anyone see it?

I'm a fan, to a certain degree of horror, so I just might check it out.

Apparently its pretty gory and loaded with sexual stuff.

I liked it alot. The backstory was cool and even though Rob has his issues with some bad diaglogue this is afterall a horror film so its not too bad.

There is a fair bit of boobies, lots of violence and nothing too original. But its entertaining and considering how hard it is to compare it to the original, on its own this was a fun horror film.

Not sure how people not horror crazy like me would feel about it, but me and my friend who writes for creature corner really enjoyed it.

I hold the original quite dear to my heart. Watched it alone at age 10 during a perfect atmosphere. Halloween decorations everywhere, setting sun, leaves changing colors and falling. Then I walked alone to my friends immediately after in the pitch dark. I was never the same after that. I wanted to be a film maker.

Rob Zombies version doesn't hold a candle. But I still found myself enjoying it. I didn't like House of 1000 corpses but I thought the Devils Rejects was fantastic. This is somewhere in between. I felt it suffered due to splitting it into two 45 min segments- That being the fresh prequel stuff including Michaels childhood and Smiths Grove Sanitarium, and the last 45 mins (remake of the original). If he would have gave them each an hour and a half splitting them into two movies it would have felt less rushed. Characters are killed off after 2 mins of screentime and you feel no connection to them.

what I liked- Adult michael- mask and costume has never looked better
-tyler bates' updated score
-brutal intensity and realistic vibe (hard to watch at times esp the first kill_
-the prequel stuff. would have loved the whole movie to have been about young michael.

dislikes: william forsythes character was the weakest link for me- odd seeing as he was the best thing about the devils rejects.
-Didn't like Malcolm Mcdowells take on Dr. Loomis (although his scene with Sid Haig as the cemetary caretaker was gold)
-no connection to the supporting characters such as Lauries friends, the kids, sheriff brackett etc.

In summary i give it a 6.5 out of 10. The new generation will probably love it. Fans of the original will either be mixed or absolutely loathe it and want Rob Zombie killed.

meh, i was pretty disappointed. It was funny due to the fact that there were two kids, maybe 8 and 9 (brother and sister) whose mother brought them to the movie. Totally freaked out. It was pretty funny, she made them close their eyes for the sex scenes, and not for the gore...

Anyway, some parts were pretty good, and i'm not a horror buff, but it was decent. Predictable for the most part. Don;t want to spoil anything, so I'll stop there. The gore wasn't too bad, and it wasn't hard to watch... just usually horror movies piss me off because of the predictability.

I'd say 3/5.

I'd give it a 'meh'. Everything you could expect out of a horror movie: sex, gore, and predictability. I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but it seems like everyone who is a fan, that I know, hated the movie. Apparently it gave reason to Myers' evil, thus taking away from his overall 'scariness'. It was also extremely predictable, but you can't really expect more from a horror film. Although there was one part where I actually groaned, when the nurse comes into sit with the child Michael. She sits on the chair across from him, picks up a newspaper, and turns pointedly away from him *sigh*. I mean, they could've been a bit more imaginative, instead of just making it an easy way for him to kill her.

The best part had to be the line "I'm Joe Grizzly bitch!"
