sorry firefly, that remark was more directed at the article, not yourself. Physical appearance is important. I'm no supermodel (or whatever the male equivalent of that is) but I certainly don't look like the poor guy in the picture posted.

Yes, evaluating his point, as in, his statement. I was not speaking of his penis. I guess I should be more careful with my homonyms (and here I am using the root homo to respond to these accusations...).

Absolutely! (jk)

Thats one of those extreme cases, but looks are a major, major factor to what brought you to your wife... since then, personality, experience, emotion, children(?) have brought the two closer so that when looks fade, there's enough there to keep the flame burning.

Notice I said "(or other positive qualities)"... everyone has their muse. Money, humor, power, intelligence...

Men are more likely to overlook these things for looks... women are more likely to overlook looks for these things... yes, everyone is different to an extent, but that seems to be the biology of men and women.

Women are attracted by status and social value more than anything. Alpha males will always have the have the highest of each of these qualities. The great part of being a man is the ability to become highly attractive to women through increase of social value, while women mostly have to rely on genetics to attract men. I can easily remain attractive to women in my 50's, while most women cannot be attractive to men in their older years.

Should have been clearer, my apologies. Not married at this moment. Lot's of lady friends though.

Of course looks are a factor. The personal qualities also have to be there at the same time too. She could be a Cindy Crawford but if she doesn't have the personal qualities i'm looking for she's history.

Of course, if you're speed dating looks will be important. They can be assessed more quickly then anything else.

Heh... I was talking hypothetically, but hey, its all good.

I agree, doesn't have to be Cindy Crawford, but it can't be Roseanne either, no matter how nice the personality.

Who says it can't be Rosanne. Do we discard someone because they are overweight?

I believe Good Charlotte said it best when they claimed "girls don't like boys, girls like cars and money!"
I have discovered this myself through out the years. Is a girl looking at personal wealth any less shallow then a guy looking strictly for physical beauty?

The happy medium is where long lasting relationships are built, in my opinion, and it is a rarity based upon the initial attraction factors.
