Oh and I am a student... so a portable laptop would be very nice which is why I only want something 14" or smaller. However, I do play games (Dota [warcraft 3] and the occasional counter-strike).

Thanks again!

choice 1 & 4 should be discounted. AMD is not strong in the laptop processors, and you can see that in the battery life.

Out of 2 & 3, neither are all that great. You can do better for that price by looking around.

Personally, I would pass.

That is about a few hundred dollars out of my range and a few inches too big =/. I only have the budget for around 1100 and that is pretty much pushing it... aka I won't have any food to eat when the school year starts. Ok well not that desperate but around 700-900 I would be alot more comfortable with. Hurray for poor students! I'm also willing to take donations... =)

Dell has some nice machines in your price range for better than any of those, or keep an eye at RedFlagDeals.com, some good deals show up there.

Ok looking at the processors, i'm not sure what is better... Core 2 Duo or Centrino Core Duo T2450 2.0 Ghz

So the Dell processor would be a
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5250 (2MB cache/1.5GHz/667Mhz FSB)
and the HP would be
Intel Centrino Core Duo T2450 2.0 Ghz

They're both made by Intel. The Core 2 Duo is a better processor. Core Duo is being phased out.

Centrino is a marketing term meaning it has Intel Processor, Intel chipset and Intel wireless chipset - Centrino can't be used to figure out if it is better or not.

Don't get HP with AMD chip. I had one and took it back after two days, my knees were getting burned.

I got the Intel HP 6200 series and I am very happy with it.

I am a fan of the AMD proccessors, yet I own an Intel Mac. I just ordered a 14" Dell with an ADM, for work. If I had to chosse from you selections I would go with #1.
