Zary may need a change of knees. That's not so easy to arrange.

Shut him down and get him some bionic knees. Just like Jonathan's bionic hips.

If they work as well as Eichel's bionic neck, you're on!

Zary was one of our best players for about a month there…

McTavish a health scratch for the second straight game. Coronato straight across for McTavish, who says no? Both have had very similar production this season (edit: pretty much every season, and they are the same age). McTavish is a centre, but OTOH, he shoots left and it seems as though something is off between him and the Ducks, so he may be a distressed asset.

There was quite a bit of talk about Mctavish earlier in the year, and how the Flames were very much in on him. Wonder if that gets revisited at the draft

McTavish would be an excellent use of these stockpiled picks/assets, especially if they get one of McKenna/Stenberg this year.

I live in fear of who the top pick is going to play with next year and would massively prefer it's not Backlund or Frost.

McKenna - McTavish - Gridin would be a lot of fun.

Honestly I would do this no question. Would also add for the centre. ESPECIALLY if we get a winger in the top of the draft.

It’s clearly going to be strome!

This seems to be the 2nd season in a row that McTavish has been in the doghouse. I can't recall if he was actually scratched at points last season, but I do recall some talk about the team not being happy with his play.

I don't pay a lot of attention to the Ducks, but what is up with that? Has he been that bad? It might be a good opportunity to buy low on a young center with upside, but I don't think I would give up Coronato to do it. I think Coronato's lack of production has more to do with the talent level of the team in general. Snake bitten for sure, but never so bad that he would deserve to be scratched.

I mean Zegras was also alienated from Anaheim. I think there is more to it potentially than just this. Mintyukov too. Something feels broken in Anaheim so I’m more than willing to take the risk.

McTavish getting scratched is really concerning. Nice to have Strome if the Flames are looking at McTavish, as he'll be able to provide some pretty great insight into whether he thinks it's an attitude thing or just a bad fit.

Flames aren't likely to trade Coronato for a distressed asset like McTavish, though. Coronato might be having a down year, but he's not playing too poorly, he's young and he's a team guy.

Drysdale got traded out too, so perhaps that first wave of young players had some team issues that they wanted to shed.

The new group and the vets they brought in have definitely righted the ship with their play this year.

I think Verbeek is one of those guys that likes a certain type of player. On paper, McTavish should be one of those, but for whatever reason he isn't. This was an issue with Sutter as GM, where guys who weren't his type were shipped off for poor returns (e.g. Lydman).

I think these GMs can be taken advantage of.

Would be a nice get and fits the age bracket. Sucks we're in the same division as that seems to gum up these buy low trades. One can dream...

It wouldn't be my first choice to trade Coronato, but I think they hold comparable value. I do think that McTavish could pop with the opportunity to be a 1C in the Flames' lineup, similar to how Monahan stepped up with the Flames due to injuries at the C position, significantly outperforming what was expected of him for where he was in his development.

Stenberg/Mckenna Mctavish Gridin
Potter Reschny Coronato

has the makings of a really good top 6. Mctavish (to me) would be a perfect add

add in a shutdown third line of

I noticed that Strome, Othmann, two recent "change of scenery" guys, and McTavish all have the same agent. It probably doesn't mean much (McTavish is signed long term and has no trade protection), but if it gets to the point he wants out and Conroy has a good relationship with Pat Morris, maybe it compels him to look at the player more (or maybe Morris reaches out to Conroy to sell him on the player as another change of scenery situation).
