I think theirs enough runway in the season for a Rangers team that still has Zibanejad, Fox, Miller, Shesterkin to accumulate more points than Calgary. NYR also have a 23rd ranked strength of schedule remaining, compared to Calgary's 8th.

Shesterkin coming back for them is the key.
He's undefeated in regulation his last five starts or something. He'll single handedly pull them up the standings in the last month here. Not only is he all-world, the Rangers play differently in front of him because of that confidence they have.

Fox (spits) was also injured for quite a while.

If you would have told me 4 seasons ago that in 2025-26 a 37-year old Backlund would be the Flames' top scorer with 36 points in 63 games...

JT Miller is injured, which may be addition by subtraction.

A quick heads up for viewers, this is a national game on Sportsnet West. The other regional channels have the Leafs-Habs game.

I’ve been closely watching the Flames for about 25 years.
Can anybody remember a weaker roster than this one?

By winning % the worst team is 97/98.
That roster had Fleury and little else. Iginla was there but not yet impactful. And it was mish-mash of forwards like Titov, Cassels, Stillman.
The D had Morris and not much else (Husle, Albelin, Patrick, Joel Bouchard)
And the goalie tandem was Tabby and Dwayne Roloson.
Yuck.
But in terms of a game roster. Yeah - this actually might be the worst.
