He was a top 15 pick his draft year, became UFA after being traded to Colombus, and signed a very team friendly deal to play 3rd pairing while being good defensively. I would argue thats pretty much exactly what happened.
Yeah his father is an executive, but Beans resume stands on its own IMO.
Didn't he step aside before his kid joined the team?

I am normally wrong, but it would be almost impossible to trade Frost for anything of value no?
In my opinion, I don't think so. I would bet there is a decent market for a 0.5 PPG 26 year old center.
I can't help but think there is still another level with him (like 60+ points). When I watch him, he looks like a player that should have more points, plus I bet a lot of our forwards would have 10-20 points more on a better team.

He's going to get more ice time and more points the rest of the season. The team didn't lose any scoring that would have benefited him - he didn't play with Kadri obviously.

Wonder if he ends up getting a higher quality of opponent though now that top pairings don't have to focus on Kadri.

Let's see if he elevates his game now that he is the de facto "1C". Backs is their best centreman right now, but he isn't going to bring the offence you'd expect out of your #1 centreman.

Yeah, he’s a 40 point guy getting gifted premium ice time and PP time.
He better get 40 points. A good team would have him on the third line and his production would drop absent PP time.
I think the flames could be players in the trade market this summer. I could see Coleman moving but I could also see the Flames going after RFA or other young assets that could be on the move
No Flames content but that should be no surprise with what’s left.
I think the Flames have the worst lineup in the league at the moment. Don’t see that changing for next year.
Yeah not falling for that anymore. Sorry Pierre et all. Draft has been equally duddish for movement the past few years. NHL GMs talk a big game. Or at least the media does. But a lot of them are the softest, most cowardly bunch in all of pro sports.

Was it really a dud though? Or is it that trades now happen the week leading up to deadline and the last 30 minutes before the deadline ends (Or 1.5 hrs in Kadri's case)
If we go back to March 1st the following picks were traded:
First Rounders : 5
Second Rounders: 13
Third Rounders : 9
Fourth Rounders : 5
That's a lot of draft capital that moved. I wouldn't say NHL GM's are cowardly compared to other leagues.
I think it feels dull for because some trades happen the days before, and teams don't trade highly level prospects anymore - just draft capital. So the deals don't feel as big, and most of the actual trade deadline day (Until last hour) nothing is happening as teams wait each other out.
But overall the trading for the week of deadline ends up pretty good - It's just not concentrated when people take the day off work to watch the TV !
