I'm a bit confused here Lanny. You give a 5 but then go on to tout all the reasons to like the deal.
I agree, Kadri was checked out. He is older and had term/money to deal.
Weegar was surprising, I agree, but Flames did well - I agree good return on diminishing asset.
Mixed feelings on Othmann, fair, I defer in that I don't know enough honestly about either player. I like who we gave up, but that's hard to know why - is it just the shiny new-ish toy that I know?
I agree, would have been nice to deal Coleman, but got Kadri out (who I think was checked out more/more temperamental staying here than Coleman), Weegar out, and...well can't do them all. Coleman I feel is a true professional and will continue to work hard and lead the team, although in fairness I truly can't say for sure. He'll get dealt regardless this summer or next year.
I don't know, not perfect, but given your comments, not higher than a 5?

They would have needed to trade Coleman to secure a 10 but I am extremely happy with moving both Kadri and Weegar. Solid returns in both trades and the team is loaded with picks and poised to tank the rest of the way.
The team got off to a nightmare start and kind of worked their way back but it was clear the fanbase wanted a new direction and the team couldn’t maintain or build on their fight back to .500 at the new year.
Andersson, Weegar, Kadri, 4th, 7th out bringing back Whitecloud, 1st in 27, 1st in 28, 2nd in 27, 2nd in 28, 3 2nds in 26, 3 prospects Oloffson, Maatta, and Strome. The team started deadline day in 31st and seem poised to at worst match their highest pick in franchise history.
I am very pleased with Conroy and the direction of the team

My thinking exactly, and my vote, too.

The Othmann deal is on par. I see a potential 3rd liner in Othmann.
The Strome deal was unnecessary. I would've liked to see more Wranglers with the big club to finish the year. Most notably Kerins, and Stromgren.
I thought we could've traded more players, but it's a decent deadline, that took care of the most important business.
|
I agree on making space and the roster being a bit cluttered right now, but I feel like they needed a placeholder at center to eat minutes. Stromgren is the guy for me who deserves an extended look and he is even more blocked now with othmann and olofsson coming in. Seems like they might just cut bait on him with waivers coming next year and I bet another club will grab him after how he has performed in the A this year and his size

Maybe the offers for Coleman weren't up to the expectations Conroy.

Was not a fan of Karri’s selfish one dimensional play, so I’m ecstatic!

I never liked his play either, but off the ice he was a professional.

Give me a break dude. It's a flippin poll selection.
Following me around making snarky comments about my poll selections he could just ignore if he had any tact should be a good way to get suspended.

The Rebiggle must be officially dead now, and that should count for something.

The Flames lineup is absolutely horrendous. Maybe the worst Flames lineup ever. Certainly in the conversation.
Conroy understood the assignment.

Maybe take it up with the guy bragging about being a troll...which last I checked is against site rules.
Or become HF...I have higher standards for CP so it annoys me

I went with an 8. If the returns were slightly better and Coleman was dealt that would have been a 10.
Coleman can still bring a return next season so all good.
Kadri deal is about all you could hope for.
Weegar the value is fair but I really wish they were able to get Utah's 1st. Utah's 1st and any of the 2nds I would have taken over the 5 pieces.
Strome seems like a good vet for the locker room and is a possible UFA trade next year. He should get the opportunity to have a successful season.
The best part of the deadline though is the team should be bad and should be drafting top 5 for at least a few seasons. You combine a few top 5 picks with the abundance of picks and things could start to get very exciting for Flames fans in the next 2-3 years.

This deadline has removed any questions on what the plan is. 10 out of 10, Coleman will hold his value and probably gets more if we can RS

Hope all the haters who say flames never rebuild or Murray has control over the team realize now none of that is true. Look what conroy has done last 2 seasons.

A+++++
The contrast between Tre and Conny is huge. So glad Conny’s the GM.
