Yes it is weird, Elliotte.

SLC is now only like 1/3 mormon. It's a rapidly growing city that has become very diverse. If Weegar liked living in Calgary, he'd like SLC. The cities are very similar in a lot of ways.

Personally I do because it's clearly a very leaky front office. Shoot we have a half dozen insiders on this website alone now. There's no media talk about the Utah return, only that Weegar needs to waive. IMO this reeks of either loose lips or an intentional move to force his hand.

No comparison. Hanifin was a b*tch when it came to waiving.

Don't see that with Weegar.

I'm sorry, why?

So a team cannot or should not trade any player signed for multiple years? They can only be traded on the last year of their contract?

Somehow it got out there. Maybe Weegar’s camp leaked it, but I can’t see it benefitting them. If Utah leaked it I would think that would lead Weegar to mistrust them. That leaves us with Calgary. Maybe something else happened, but someone associated with these parties has parted with some information.

And you only have a 20 minute drive from DT to get to the parasitic community wackos in Provo!

It really is too bad that Tij is so untouchable. That would’ve explained the suddenness of this deal landing in Weegars hands and would’ve gotten every fan insanely hyped for the rebuild. Hoping for Simashev or Beaudoin though

I see the fact that we only know about one player from one team means it’s more likely it came from the other side, personally. Utah isn’t going to want to leak what they’re offering. The Flames might, as it could mean better offers.

I look at it as a possible sign of respect that conroy has for his veterans. I don’t think any of them signed long term in Calgary thinking that we would be in a tear down mode within 3 years. This gives them a chance to compete with contenders opposed to the long drawn out rebiggle

This might be conroy doing a solid for a good team guy and great professional

I think insiders probably know a lot more than they usually actually release to the public.

And my guess is in this case they've decided to leak some things today just because overall it's been pretty quiet as a whole and their job is to generate traffic and clicks.

All Weegs has to in SLC is avoid joining up with any and all life coaches. Netflix ruined Utah life coaches for me forever.

Don't think so, deal is done if he waives. (allegedly)

With what RHD are going for and his contract, the return could be huge. Awesome

Having been born and raised in SLC (hence the name) - and with more than half of my family still living in the area - I obviously know the town well. And on my several trips I've made to Calgary, I don't know that there is a North American city that reminds me of Salt Lake more than YYC. Incredible beauty, conservative politics, family-centered, but still with plenty of a scene for anyone's liking. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if Weegar liked Calgary (and by all accounts are he does), he'll like Salt Lake.

Unless this is more of a US/Canada question...because otherwise seems like a really easy fit.

I moved up to the PNW almost 20 years ago and this area suits me better on all fronts - but SLC is not the place that many people think it is.

There could be other teams but there is no guarantee they can afford or want him

Utah is not a bad place and not that much different from Calgary compared to other places
Do you really think Conroy told Weegar he is no longer part of the plan? The Flames were not even shopping Weegar, they were approached with something they liked and now it's up to the player. The Flames will be happy to keep him if he wants to stay.

I wouldn't go "very" diverse but it does seem like a nice city.

Still bitter about the Coyotes?
