I will say Weegar feels like he'd be a good fit and personality for what they are trying to build in Utah.

I like Tij but if they want our 1st in the deal they can get bent.

I would love to play in Utah! Great city, fantastic owner, and a growing fanbase. A better place to be than the Buffalo's or Ottawa's of the world. To me Utah has quickly become a top half organization league wide.

Why are trades being leaked prior to the guy agreeing?

Bang on. This season has been really tough for him, but I could easily see him rebound next season in a new environment. Great guy, great player, hope he finds his form wherever he goes.

I wonder if Hayton could be a part of the trade as a future Kadri replacement. RFA at the end of the year, with only 1 year of team control left.
He just seems like the type of player that Conroy targeted so far.

Much less messy, since there is no issue about negotiating a contract extension. All Weegar has to do is say yes or no.
As long as he doesn't pull a Stallone and say ‘yo’ instead.

If this goes through and Calgary trades Kadri and Coleman, they will be below the cap floor ($67,666,457). They need to retain or take back $2,933,543 in salary to hit the floor.

Yeah he has definitely been a good soldier.
My gut tells me this doesn't get out to the media if he isn't actually going to waive. Calgary is typically way to tight lipped about this.
From a players perspective, if you were signed to a long term deal on a rebiggle team, that is going to take at least a few more years, you would think your choice of teams would be the up and coming teams, IE Utah, San Jose, Anaheim. instead of a team that is currently contending but likely on the downswing in 1-2 more years as they age out.

If Weegar turns it down I don't even want to know what the return would have been.

I think if the Flames get the equivalent of a 1st round pick in return, it's a good trade for the Flames.
