RNH - McDavid - Hyman
Podkolizin - Draisaitl - Kapanen
Frederic - Roslovic - Savoie
Lazar - Henrique - Samanski
The need obviously looks like a top 6 winger that would actually give 29 some help, they have 4 top 6 forwards on that team and that's the problem.
But sure go spend a premium on a bottom 6 center.

A guy like this would help them quite a bit:
24 years old.
6'1" 207 lbs.
$2.29MM cap hit
Career Stats: 203 Games 46 goals 56 assists 102 points +11
Key Scouting Traits
Skating & Power: Uses his strong skating and frame to create space, drive to the net, and win battles, with a physical maturity that was evident early in his development.
Two-Way Ability: He is reliable defensively, often used for his backchecking ability and quick stick to disrupt plays.
Offensive Game: While not considered an elite playmaker, he has good vision and possesses a "heavy" shot. He is effective at finding soft spots in coverage and attacking the net-front.
Versatility: Capable of playing center or wing, he is a coach-friendly player with a high work rate.
(Yes, that is Dylan Holloway...)

Oilers will go as far as McDavid can carry them. That’s how team with McDavid works, even on a stacked team like team Canada. Everything goes through him. Rest are just passengers.
So far McDavid proved that he can carry the team pretty far but not crossing the finish line. He just choked a few feet short

Holloway has been less productive this year albeit he has had some injuries that no doubt have affected him. He's a good player but I don't know if he's a consistent 60-70 point guy.
I think the Oilers already miss him and will miss him more, but I still think Broberg is the bigger blow.

You have to think the league has gone to school on what Florida did to McDavid and Draisatl last year.
Pretty much neutralized them. (5 five on five points between them in the six games)

The book was written by Kesler in 2016/17. You just have the badger them constantly and they will fold under the pressure.

Be hard to play against instead of simply keeling over?
You can't tell me those Dallas teams were giving 100% up and down the bench in either conference finals.

Agreed but from a cost of acquisition perspective a 2nd line winger and 3rd line center probably cost a similar amount.

Why do these prick GMs have to take so long to meet CC's price?
Just do it already.

More fun to me to have it all wait until the last day.

They probably have but it sounds like he makes them hold on while he shops around their best offer one last time to see if anyone might maybe beat it.

Dreger posted that trade talks between STL and Buffalo are heating up in regard to Thomas. That could be fun. I like me some Buffalo

While the league isn't preventing anything from happening - you know from a marketing standpoint the build up to the day is important for both the league and media. Lots of $$$$ invested.

Is there still a trade pending accrued cap space, regarding the Flames?

The longer they wait the more they get. I can't share specifics but you can look at the PuckPedia and guess teams maximizing this.

I could be wrong, but I feel like in recent years there were more trades made before the week leading up to the deadline than the date itself. I just remember watching insiders have nothing to talk about come TDD on their coverage.

Definitely, there were. Removing the double cap retention is creating issues, according to Lebrun... so waiting to maximize cap space would be a legitimate potential help--even if it's just a few more days.

I'll set my expectations low, I'll be happy if the Flames make 1 trade before friday.

I just can’t compute in my head there’d be a trade agreement in place while waiting for cap accrual to occur, and the flames still run said player out. But that was only good as of our last game, doesn’t mean it’s not occurring until the next Flames game.

You can look at last year’s trades here:
https://www.nhl.com/news/2024-25-nhl-trades
Trade deadline was March 7. There were three trades on March 1, one on March 4, four on March 5, seven on March 6 and 26 on March 7.
