Lift off would be the obvious read on that GIF, surely…

Hopefully he spends some of his recovery time with a psychologist.

Usually the full recovery time is 8-12 months but considering only two players returned properly to being able to play at all, the likelihood of that happening on the quicker side is slim to none.
I would be shocked if he returned before the new year. I'm personally in the "write him off for next year entirely" camp because that is one hell of a surgery he's going through.

I think everyone is wrong. ESA is the European Space Agency, and they launch from French Guiana, so that must be where Coleman is going.

I’m a bit surprised Blake isn’t being held out, especially coming back from injury.
Given how close things appear to be on him, I’m shocked he’s slated to be in the lineup… though that can change.

I’m not a betting man, but I would bet the under on Huberdeau playing another 82 NHL games.

Conroy has shown a willingness to take a risk playing his guys right up until the deal is done (Tanev and Andersson).
It's gutsy and I like it. As long he he's not fighting, the injury risk is low.

1. Put him in starting lineup to call bluffs and pressure buyers to up the offers.
2. Trade him mid-game, thereby removing said asset and putting additional pressure on the remaining lineup
3. Lose game due to those factors
4. ???
5. Profit!

I highly doubt anything happens before the Flames get back home.

It's a tough one. It may be Calgary trying to increase leverage and signal that teams aren't close to their asking price and they are prepared to keep him if they are unsure he's moving still. I get that if a deal isn't close.
But I think if you're 95% certain a deal is going to be done and you're into the finer strokes, playing him is pretty dumb with where this team is at. Imagine losing a late 1st rounder because you decided you had to have Blake Coleman in the lineup for a random game in late February while sitting in 28th place. On the road no less so you aren't even answering to your STHs. I'd prefer to see them pull anyone they know is moving at this point seven and a half days out from the deadline.

Why? When they get their price, the deal should be done. Particularly if they aren’t holding guys out of the lineup.

Just tracks with what they prefer to do. Flames have historically been extremely reluctant to make deals on the road, and the deadline coincides with them coming home from this California trip.

I hope that's not how Conroy operates. If the deal is done and both sides agree to a deal, why risk dragging it out for the sake of dragging it out?
