I am taking far too much pleasure in my old company imploding with all the things I said that got me on the crap list.
- Boss on a performance plan..
- Facility guy who was the best I ever worked with gave his notice this week.
- The young engineer who is a tall strapping nordic guy just gave notice and he was the golden boy for good reason, brilliantly smart and charisma for days.
I should not be this happy about this but I am. The schadenfreude is immeasurable.
I am dying to phone the HR person and 'check-up'.

You know what fn sucks? Sitting by your moms bedside in ICU listening to her struggling to take her last breaths all night.

That final breathe is something else. You just know. When my mom did maid she was making jokes to the bitter end. After getting pumped full of goo. Then the room files out and just your dad left there with a corpse, he cries for the first time i had ever seen and says 'I wanna get out of here, there is a desd body in here'. I'm thinking the exact same thing and we left. Last time I ever saw her.
She chose her end, not cancer. I think that's kinda cool, I guess.
Just know, you will never get over it, just accept it and embrace it. She desrves your pain.
Be well buds.

My uncle had a stroke on Valentine’s Day and I went up to see him. He wasn’t looking good, but the family was hoping he’d spring back. He lived on a farm by himself; they estimate he was found 10 hours after the stroke--as soon as I heard that, I knew it was over. The doctor kept coming in and gently steering the family toward comfort care, and nobody wanted to hear it. I can’t say I blame them. He died a few days later.
His funeral was today and while sitting there watching the photo montage, the future came into alarming focus: I’m going to be going to a lot of funerals in the next few years. It’s been weighing heavily on me all day. My mom’s had lots of health problems, and I’m just not ready for her to die any time soon. Nobody prepares you for this.

I'm only 42 and I've lost eight people in the last three years. Only one was an appropriate age to die. All of them were more than friends.

Ah man I'm so sorry to hear that, losing a parent is a bizarre feeling that puts you in some really dark places mentally.

I did that with my father in 2000 and at home with my mother in 2021. Yes it sucks but that's the cold harsh reality of life and frankly nothing prepares you for that moment. My only advice I can give you is that your good memories of her will live on inside of you forever. Take that with you moving forward. That's what I did with both of my parents.
Sorry for your loss.

I had a down and up day last night. If I owned a gun I'd be dead right meow. So I am talking that cousin away from the ledge and I sit down on the side of my bed and hear a pop. I sat on my fall back glasses and totally broke them, like an idiot.
So I got these glasses from Knut like a year ago, but realized I need progressives, so I got a better pair from knut again. I lose them a week or so after getting them, cannot find them anywhere. So I go back to the old ones. I don't deserve a new pair. I and sit on them and break the hell out of them. I am freaking out, because it is a giant pain in the arse. Now I can't drive, gotta take uber for a few weeks now. I phone knut in a panic.
I scour the house again and holy fata, I found the better pair I had lost. They were wedged between the mattress and frame. Must have fell asleep and booted as I was tossing and turning. It felt like I won the lottery. I started the day in the middle, dipped as low as I can go and then won the lottery and came out better than they day had started.
I am this scatterbrain when I was not previously. I was eyeing my closet with the coax cable for that hour and then fortune came my way.

I spoke with someone who was still struggling with the memory of finding the body of a loved one a while ago. Honestly speaking, is there anything that can be said that might be helpful? Beyond, condolences, I couldn't fathom etc. are there any other approaches that might be helpful to aid someone in finding peace or at least reduce the risk of bringing up the memory in an undesired way?

I tell people with vision concerns like that to get the good pair and then get like 2-3 pairs of those $50 online specials. Leave a spare in the car etc. That way if you go out and somehow break the glasses, lose them, etc. you have a spare pair for driving home.

Give yourself grace and time. I'm so sorry diss, I'm an only child and when my mom passes, it's going to be the hardest thing I'll ever deal with. There are so many people who have gone through this, lean on them. Ask for help. Cry your eyes out. Feel those feelings, it's all part of the process, because the only way forward is through.

I have a good pair from knut and 2 pairs from Zenni ($90 for progressives) He will tell you why it’s not optimal but I think he understands While they aren’t near as good as knut’s (which I broke the week after the warranty was over by walking into a sheet of plywood sticking out the back of a contractor’s truck) I like that I’m not as worried about trashing them.
I have been where you are this year. Hearing you talk about it makes me wonder if you’re spying on me and stealing my life hahaha
I’ve spent a lot of time and money trying to get tools to help me and it’s still a process. I now have a pt job that gives me purpose, but doesn’t pay the bills. If you aren’t feeding your soul in some way, it’s really hard to have the energy to dig yourself out of your pit.
If anyone wants to chat privately I can share more of my story and maybe pass on what helped for me.
Cheers.
