I’m conflicted about the Robert Thomas thing- on one hand, we aren’t in the right stage of our rebuild to give up the assets needed to aquire a high-end veteran player who will affect our future draft standing, even if only slightly.

On the other hand, we talkin’ bout Robert “fricken” Thomas!

Same here! I'm fully team rebuild... but Robert Thomas.... Not every prospect the Flames draft is going to work out, maybe not even the high end ones. It's like that Family Guy joke... you could have a boat or the mystery box, and the mystery box could even be a boat!

You obviously have no clue who Robert Thomas is if you think they are comparable players.

He’s produced at an 85-90 point pace in 3 out of 4 seasons before this one. Not even close

No to Thomas. We will not be a playoff team for another 4 or 5 years.

He does not fit the timeline.

I think I'd agree with this, and I really like Thomas. I don't feel like it would be worth what we'd have to give up, and that in the long run we'd be better off keeping any picks and making them ourselves.

They passed on the buy cheap on Cozens and Zegras. I don’t think they go for Thomas

Don’t like him. Both his names are first names.

So, if by all accounts the flames received their asking price I'm surprised there's no new information from insiders on Coleman. They can't take him on the trip and play him

There's a great reason for teams to stop allowing their players to go to events like the Olympics. That is going to cost the Penguins a playoff spot and millions of dollars in additional revenue.

If teams had their way the players wouldn't go to the Olympics. This was a player sought item in the CBA.

Pitt brass will be livid if they don't make the playoffs.

But from a league perspective, one team's loss is another's gain - perhaps CBJ sneak in as a result. But regardless, some team will benefit.

Also from a league perspective, that was as much publicity as they're ever going to get in the US. It isn't very often the POTUS is talking hockey. Now we'll see if the league can capitalize on it.

I wonder if the Bruins would make the same offer for Weegar that they did for Andersson? Would the Flames accept that?

Weegar having a down year it might now be the best time to trade him?

I'd want one of the 2026 picks from Boston for Weegar, can't be one of the 2027 picks like it was rumoured to be for Andersson.

Weegs has to have a 2026 1st if he moves. And a stud prospect. His contract is great and D men like him usually are solid later into their careers.

I’d love to see the flames make a big move if they ship him for a top prospect. Hagens? :P
