One time after a Flames game in the late aughts I called in the fan 960 and told a confused Rob Kerr that the Flames (and Darryl specifically) should hatch more Dion Phaneufs under the saddledome like Uruk Hai. Whenever I see Uruk Hai now on social media I think of that weird call and how much of a whackjob Kerr must have thought I was/am.

Has anyone been contacted as a guarantor for a passport?
I was renewing my daughter’s passport yesterday and the thought occurred to me that I have been the guarantor for a bunch of people and never been contacted. Made me wonder how much confirmation they do.

I have been twice. Once as the reference when a buddy lost his passport on a trip and he had to get an emergency replacement at a consulate. The other time was when I was a guarantor for and extended family member's kids. The family member was not a citizen yet, however the kids were born in Canada.

Guarantor (new passport)- no. Reference (renewal) - yes on several occasions.
It's been about 50/50 whether my references have been contacted when I renewed.

Damn, I just broke off the aarm of this parkade I park at. They give you this little stick that it reads and lifts the arm. I just hold it up and it mostly works but not a great system. I saw it come up out of the corner of my eye and started lurching forward but it stopped and I drove into it and it broke off. Now what. I just went and parked, no one to talk too. Idiot.
