McQueen is probably out of the question without adding to what we’re giving up.
Other players of interest are LD Stian Solberg and C Lucas Pettersson.

Solberg would be a very nice pickup. He has a lot of upside and he's big and mean. Could be a nice longer term pair on the left side with Parekh.
They also have Mintyukov who may still be looking to move out--especially if they get another defender back.

No trading for any asset that won’t be part of a WJC team in either of the next two years please
I want a good Flames representation when I go to Finland, not like last time when Sweden galaxy brained and left Andersson and Kylington at home

"But don't worry, we have Gabriel Carlsson. What do you mean, he can't skate? He's a hockey player, isn't he?"

Brzustewicz probably increased his value from a 2nd round pick (where he was drafted) to a late 1st after his D+1 season. Looking for prospects to target in trades even if they aren’t recent 1st rounders. Would love to know of any from teams rumoured to be in on the Kadri/Coleman/Weegar/Whitecloud.
Why I ask is because so many of us (including myself) want that top prospect from a team in one of these trades but the reality is that teams so rarely trade their top prospect unless they are starting to trend down (eg. Greentree from LA). It’s even more rare if the team is including a 1st round pick in the trade already. So if the flames can’t get that top prospect, from a team, who is the really good prospect to target while also getting a 1st round pick?

I'm sure prospect watchers will have some interesting thoughts on this. Scott Wheeler's in the system prospect team rankings are always really insightful to me.
They usually come out in January, but he mentions here that they won't start until March 2nd because he had a baby.
Hockey Writers put out this list a month ago. Lots of names here of guys who didn't get picked in the first round: https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-farm-system-rankings/

In a redraft i cant see Wyttenbach going outside the top 20?
I do agree that most teams are hesitant to give up on good prospects think its the reality of cap.
The guys i like that would fit the bill probably wouldnt be much of an option though . Alas Frondell probably aint going no where.

He was picked in the 3rd round.
ETA: Pick #75 so it wasn't essentially a 2nd, either.

It would be so refreshing to have an aggressive run of trading vets for picks/prospects between now and the TDL. Even better if it all gets done early (this week) as long as the returns are good. Would love to see something like this:
Kadri (50% retained) for 1st + 2nd round picks
Coleman for 2nd + 3rd round picks
Weegar for 1st + 2nd round picks
Any additional prospects the flames get in those returns would be a bonus but, with how the team has been drafting lately, I’m fine with them getting most of their value through the draft picks. Make 3 picks in the first round of the next 2-3 drafts on top of what is already in the system and also making sure their own picks are likely in the top 5 of those drafts will go such a long way in making this rebuild work.
Get some lottery luck and the team will be so exciting to watch as early as next year - even though they will likely struggle to win games.

From what we're hearing about the Flames getting multiple offers that are meeting their ask for Coleman, I'm hoping for a first since that would presumably be what they're aiming for.
