No, #### that. He was garbage in an important game. He will never be Crosby. He's a loser oiler.
It's true that McDavid's 1 on 3 rushes were not good decisions, but in a game where Canada missed chance after chance - and McDavid is their best weapon in a 3 on 3 situation - I can kind of understand it. It may even have been the strategy to set him loose and end it early in OT.
MacKinnon was a ball of nerves all game too. Just a lot of pressure on these guys.
Problem is it completely made OT a 50/50 coin toss.
Either McDavid scores 1 on 3 or USA wins it the other way, all or nothing strategy.
I wonder what the coaches said before OT, because it seemed really stupid to just go YOLO on McDavid going end to end or bust.

McDavid gave him a crappy choice. Retreat for a 3 on 2 or pinch and try to keep the puck (or at least disrupt enough that McDavid could get back). But Makar didn't fully commit either way.
