Don't know what tweet or quote you're looking at but the one you replied to didn't say anything about Weeger "wanting out", simple that be'd be open to a move in that situation. Wanting out is not the same as being open to a move.
There is nothing out there indicating he would be open to a move.

There is a repeating theme of players acknowledging how transparent and straightforward the communication is with Conroy, and how he "gets it" having been in their shoes.
The Flames haven't had a GM that has played in the NHL since Darryl (and he's not exactly someone players could ever relate to).
Conroy is transparent with the player. The player in turn is transparent with his teammates. Even in a sell-off, the vibes stay positive and players support one another.
My Conniefidence has never been higher.
100%. It's wonderful to see. We haven't see this level of GM/player trust/respect in decades. A rebuild is the ultimate test of that and the players still seem to be very cordial and happy with how Conroy deals with them.
Wait, why does next year's deadline "have to be better?". Coleman is still a major hot commodity with recent play the last two years. Plus a contender is getting him for two playoff runs.
I don't understand this frequent notion on CP that if you don't get what you want for Coleman this deadline that he'll obviously get this years offers or better next deadline. He's been great, but there's tons of factors including the old "father time is uncontested" and the buyer and seller market is fluid each season.
I read what getoverit wrote a bit differently. Thought it was if the current offers are a 2nd and whatever, that should be a return the Flames could also get next season as well. For this season, the return should be higher. It sounds similar to what you also posted. I agree with both of your statements.

This season it's a sellers market with the Flames being one of the only teams having good assets they're willing to sell. That's an incredible situation to be in playing in a 32 team league, and if you're rebuilding you do business this trade deadline, with those cards.
CP speaks as if next deadline is equal to this deadline if we don't get "our price met". Meanwhile, as we've seen so many times - sometimes you have great assets that should net great returns and most contenders are set/maxed out/not interested in your specifics players, or way more teams than the year prior decide it's time to quit pushing and start selling and suddenly your GM goes "**** everyone is selling off forwards this deadline and Coleman and Kadri both took huge steps back, production wise, there just isn't a great return to be made".
I mean Kadri has already quit this season and there's still allegedly a market where we could get a decent return. You DO NOT sit on an aging asset that is playing disinterested in a sellers market where you're one of the only teams selling and teams are interested in acquiring him, until next deadline, at all, imo. That is dumb.
100 percent. The Flames have gotten really fortunate this deadline / year as a whole. The risk of Kadri/Coleman getting injured, falling back production wise, next years trade deadline turning to a buyers market etc is not worth the bump. With the cap increase and a very weak free agent market, this feels like the first deadline in a while where players with term is not a negative for trade value.
In the case of both players, they were both UFA signings. There's some sunk cost fallacy with Kadri due to the Monahan cap trade for a 1st, but in either case, the fact that these players have a market at all is somewhat astounding to me. A 34 year with 1.5 years left at 4.9 million and a 35 year old with 3.5 years at $7 million are not normally trade-able players.
I really like both players. I worry about the Flames cutting too deep, but unless you want the players for mentoring / sheltering, the time to move them is now.

Seems like we’ll see a rush of trades right after the roster freeze. From what’s been discussed on Coleman here I would not be surprised if a deal is quick. The same thing could happen with other teams over the break (trades being negotiated but not completed).
My guesses for a few flames trades before the trade deadline are:
Weegar to Ottawa for protected 2027 1st round pick + 3rd round pick + prospect
Coleman to Dallas for 2nd round pick + Hemming
Kadri to Montreal for 2026 1st round pick + 2nd round pick + Beck
Some other trade guesses from other teams:
Petterson to LA for protected 2026 1st round pick + 2nd round pick + George
Trocheck to Minnesota for protected 2027 1st round pick + 2nd round pick + prospect

I’m really torn on Coleman to Dallas. It’s probably the right thing to do from a human aspect, but I hate that it’s Dallas. I’m still butthurt over the Tanev deal. Nill is shrewd and won’t pay full price when compared to others. And they really don’t have any appealing pieces, couple that with the fact he’s looking to keep some futures around instead of trading them. Selfishly, I hope it’s anywheee but Dallas
Kadri - dis says lak and min are teams with most interest. Trochek is staying out east (hello Detroit) and Montreal is looking for a winger more so than a center.
Weegar - same as Coleman/Dallas. I don’t see anything appealing in Ottawa that we would want. Have to figure that staois will hang onto his ‘27 first after forfeiting ‘26. No rush to move him at this point and he holds all the cards with trade protection. Not ideal time to move him unless he asks out and will give a few more teams than Ottawa.

Don't get greedy Conny. If the offers are there where you're happy making a move, do it, don't wait. Market floors fall out from underneath GMs feet all the time. If you're happy, pull the trigger asap

I'm not certain I would claim Petterson on waivers
