Lol exactly. Mad at commercials so driving in silence? Man you need YouTube premium/music or Spotify or whatever service you like. Don't suffer through Spence any more
I dont drive enough to make it really worth it is my problem. I basically drive to the office and back, its like 15 minutes a day total. I shall suffer with peasant-terrestrial-radio.

Yes. A valid GG for sure. However, it is something of an own goal. Not sure how many of us don't have a magic device in our pocket that will allow you to listen to, literally, anything you want. You can even listen to this over and over...

But you can listen at your desk when not with clients! At home. On public transport. The possibilities are endless. Come into the 21st century my friend.

I know you're older than me, but please invest in Spotify or apple music. Any song or podcast you want on demand.
Weird question can you some songs of your own on you spotify account? This obscure band from a way back from Calgary i have to go to my download and play them from there. I'm sure its not possiblebut maybe. I want to play in the car without farting arpund with my phone.

An inexpensive solution is maybe an older phone basically collecting dust, loaded with mp3s.
Youtube to mp3 a bunch of clips. Use a clipper to get rid of intros and "subscribe to my channel" at the end and have it dedicated to the vehicle. Sometimes there's even bluetooth devices for like <$20 you can pair to that phone and then clip somewhere to use as the music controls so that you can control without looking at the phone.

Gemini answers: You absolutely can! Both platforms allow you to listen to your own music alongside their streaming catalogs, but they handle the process very differently.
Here is exactly how it works for each:
### **YouTube Music (True Cloud Uploads)**
YouTube Music has a true cloud-upload feature. This means they actually host your files on their servers, allowing you to stream them from any device without needing your computer turned on.
* **The Perks:** You can upload up to 100,000 of your own songs. Even if you are on the free tier, you can listen to your uploaded tracks ad-free, offline, and in the background.
* **How to upload:** You cannot upload directly from the mobile app. You need to go to **music.youtube.com** on a computer (or use a mobile web browser set to "Desktop site"). Click your profile picture in the top right corner and select **Upload music**, then select your files (FLAC, M4A, MP3, OGG, or WMA).
* **Where to find them:** Your tracks will live in your Library under a dedicated **Uploads** tab, and you can easily mix them into playlists with regular YouTube Music tracks.
### **Spotify (Local File Sync)**
Spotify does *not* host your personal music files in the cloud. Instead, it uses a "Local Files" system, which basically turns the Spotify app into a media player for the files physically sitting on your device's hard drive.
* **The Catch:** Because the files aren't in the cloud, listening to them on multiple devices requires some manual syncing.
* **How to set it up (Desktop):** Open the Spotify desktop app, click your profile picture, and go to **Settings**. Scroll down, toggle on **Show Local Files**, and click **Add a source** to select the folder on your computer where your music files live.
* **How to get them on your phone:** Create a playlist on your computer and add your local files to it. Then, make sure your phone and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network, open the Spotify app on your phone, navigate to that playlist, and hit the **Download** button to sync the files over.
* **Mobile-only method:** If you already have the audio files saved directly to your phone's storage, you can simply open the Spotify mobile app, go to Settings, and toggle on **Show audio files from this device** (under "Local Files").
Would you like help figuring out how to convert your existing music collection into the right audio formats (like MP3 or FLAC) so you can get them uploaded?

Or a carplay adapter for about $50 that just connects to your phone and you push play.
Not for obscure songs that aren't on streaming platforms though...
And messing around on a primary phone between streaming platforms and mp3 with or without a smart screen is still kinda a pain though. Easier to have a separate device connected via AUX for that IMO.

Agreed. Uploading to a platform and making a list of your fav is probably easiest overall.
Ironically, for music, I pick a song I like, hit Play Radio and the app does the rest and I like everything that plays from there. No sure why I am posting so much about an issue I don't care about at all. Stress management I guess.
Has the sound mixing for the ice sports at the Olympics been horrible or is it just me? The music for figure skating sounds like they’ve been picking it up from a microphone outside the rink, and I was listening to hockey on the radio and it was 90% crowd noise and impossible to make out the officials.
