Perfect, then let's do away with all parties and have everyone run as independents.

Even if there are no official floor crossing there is no way the NDP would vote to bring down the govt. so it's kind of moot

It's just great that these "traitors" is making the deplorable polyester even more weak and foolish. hahaha

He needs to work out more! hahahahaha

and so many tears coming from Geologists from Calgary that will solve our water issues.

Seems like a Canada wide thing now rather than just a provincial thing that started in BC. Considering they only just formed the Task Force recently, probably talking thousands of people.

ttps://globalnews.ca/news/11669008/spike-extortion-immigration-investigations/

Canadian immigration officers investigating hundreds identified by extortion task force

The Canada Border Services Agency said it had launched probes into 296 people who were “brought to our attention by B.C Extortion Task Force partner agencies as persons of interest.”

The latest statistics, which are as of Feb. 4, represent a sharp increase from just a month ago, when the task force said that just over 100 CBSA investigations were underway.

Along with Ontario, Alberta and Manitoba, B.C. is facing a wave of crimes in which India-based crime groups are demanding large sums of money from victims, most of whom are Canadians of Sikh background.

The violence has typically been carried out by locally recruited Indian nationals who entered Canada on student and work permits that have since expired.

B.C. Premier David Eby and Mayor Brenda Locke of Surrey, the city where many of the extortions have occurred, have been seeking more federal support.

He has also called for changes to deportations, saying it was “ludicrous” that some extortion suspects had claimed refugee status, likely delaying their removals.

Hopefully we can work to strengthen our borders. No room for this in Canada.

Was the term "He" actually used? if so then it seems likely to be Gord Johns.

I mean there are three males in the NDP caucus, Boulerice seems more likely to be leaving federal politics, Don Davies seems really really unlikely, and Gord Johns didn't vote against the budget.

You vote for someone to make decisions for your benefit on your behalf. How they choose to do that is up to them. If you don't like it, you do not re-elect them. If you think what they've done is particularly egregious, start the process for a re-call.

Everything else in between and around that core concept is minutiae.

What we no longer have is the patience to wait until the next election. Social media with its instant reporting/opinionating demands action now.
Electronic voting without party identifiers in a shorter time frame should be viable.

I think this situation always had a fairly virulent reaction. Floor crossings always rile up the party where someone walks away.

I remember when Stronach and Emerson crossed the floor in different directions within a year of one another it was the same thing.

The goalpost is laying on the ground haha. I can't move it any lower.

Literally pick any system thats in use by any country that you find respectable.

I can't open the door wider for you.

Why would the Conservatives ever spend any political capital on Alberta when they know we will always vote for them?

Outside of population size, the reason other provinces have more sway than Alberta is because their votes are up for grabs.

What happens when the Liberals piss off Quebec and Alberta? Quebec and Alberta volte Conservative in the next election.

What happens with the Conservatives piss off Quebec and Alberta? Quebec votes liberal, and Alberta votes Conservative in the next election.

If Alberta is irrelevant to Federal politics, it's because we've voted ourselves into irrelevancy.
Ya sure, nothing to disagree with here. We do not align politically or economically with Ontario/Quebec. We want entirely different things and have different goals and we were not established enough to carve out constitutional supports historically.

Which leads to the question of why the #### would anyone want a system where such a small portion of the population of a gigantic control has such enormous top down control. We're a two party, single house democracy with highly centralized control in the PMO and it has continually gotten worse decade over decade.

FPTP, population disparities, and historical norms just exaggerate what is a heavily flawed system modelled out of the hundreds of year old logic of Aristocracy. Where as I told the other guy, literally pick another system at random and it would be better than ours.

How about you list the countries that you want me to pick from that you think have better systems?

The population of Ontario and Quebec combined is over 60% of the total population of the country.

I get that you expect Alberta’s interests to take precedence over what the majority of the country wants but that’s like saying you’d be ok with half the population of Edmonton dictating all of our provincial policies.

Alberta could better further its own interests by replacing the loon running the province with someone who is interested in furthering our interests over her own.
