Canada needs to embrace they are less talented and try to clog up the game.
If they try to go skill against skill it won't work.
Need to play like the less talented team and work harder and just play to keep it close.
There were some younger skilled players left off this roster (Danielle Serdachny, Chloe Primerano, Kendall Cooper) which is frustrated considering how much the U.S. has dominated in the run up to the Olympics.
But you took that experience for pretty much one reason...today's game.

Add Kraemer to that list, arguably Leslie (granted she's not younger) and Batherson as well

Nobody else really plays women's hockey though. No idea why, you'd think the Finns and Swedes at least would be next up.

About 7 or 8 years ago my sister was on the National team's radar and she said back then it was really hard for younger girls to make the team because they're too loyal to their old players. They've been doing this for a while now and it's caught up to them. It's nothing new for this program, they kept Wickenheiser well past her expiration date.
The women's program is about as bad an Old Girls Club as you can get. They're not just losing to the Americans, they're getting smoked.
Girls hockey has seen a significant upswing in talent in recent years. The girls coming up are miles better than they were even a decade ago.
MPP is the only vet I'd keep. Assuming they lose this game, it's time for a complete and total revamp of the national team. We can beat the US, we're just not bringing the girls to do it.

Think the only way the canucks win is if they install Huska as the head coach.
They’ll have to goalie the US.
From the round robin game the US was bigger, faster and more aggressive. Not a good combo.

The US are far superior - if anything, we’re far closer to being the third best team in the world than we are to the US.
However, the best teams don’t always win individual games. Here’s hoping.

Yeah the ladies are in tough against this US team. Hopefully they learned something watching the Canada vs Czechia game yesterday and play half a period with 6 players!

Yeah, just want to add that it is not hopeless going forward. We have the young guns coming up, we just didn't bring them this time. 2006 men's is a great comparison.
That said, anything can happen in one game and we do have MPP.

The age of the Canadian roster is quite startling.
I forget the exact stats but something like we have 3 players under 25 and every other team has a dozen or more.

Man, between that near gaff and the earlier game against the States, the low IQ plays by Canada are shocking. Just no brain, no hockey sense plays that will end up costing them.

Exactly. Why even play the game, right?
Oh yeah, because it's sports, and anything can happen.
It is hilarious to see so many yesterday worried that the Czechs would upset Canada, but today seeing so many thinking Canada has no chance in this game.
I assume some people just need to insulate themselves.

But the one game that I would place the most value on experience for, is the gold medal game.

I don't buy into the culture wars, but the penalty should be called 'Too Many Women' (not players). This is an outrage.

Is Canada just gripping their sticks too tight, or is the level of execution normally this low?

Yeah, they've nicely controlled the play. Had a bunch of bobbles on that powerplay though.

Canada playing well, and sending the message that this game is different than the last 7.
