It’s a pretty apples to apples comparison, that anybody should understand. What you’re missing that for every person that has regrets (in the transplant example those would be the ones where the transplant process failed), there are many more for whom it has increased the quality of life for (in the transplant example those would be the ones where the recipient went on to live a happy healthy life).

Those lives matter. Just as much as every other life. They should not be overlooked. There should be more supports in place for them.

That doesn’t mean we should overlook the 6 percent. 94 percent is not close enough to 100.

A child just doesn't walk into an ER and demand gender affirming surgery. Same as you don't just walk in and demand a MAID procedure.

I don't know the ins and outs of either one but I know they are not done without several consultations with physicians that are far more knowledgeable than you or I.

I'm not responding to Dr Dumbass, but your obvious answer provides space for another point. Some do regret getting a transplant that saves their life. The guilt of living when someone else died, or that someone "better than you" could have received the organ. That you aren't doing enough to live like you should with a second chance. There are lots of emotional reasons people may regret it, probably not a lot different than if someone with gender dysphoria may second guess their own choices. But we still do transplants, you don't stop doing something that may save a person's life because people may experience confusing thoughts around it.


Not everything is perfect, and straightforward, and can be decided by uneducated culture warriors and christofascists and cowards. Let individuals have access to the best possible care we can, and do it with kindness. All this stuff is just continuing the bullying and exclusion these people have suffered their whole lives. Now they have adult strangers with zero expertise making these choices for them...for...reasons? Sit the #### down, and shut up.
