Why the hell are we talking about paid protestors?
Even if you prove that people are supporting impassioned leaders of protests, by furnishing them with basic needs, who cares?
I promise you with a massive degree of certainty, that if there is ever any evidence at all that someone in the US or Alberta is being paid to protest, they are being paid by the right wing nutter butter organizations that keep accusing people of being paid protestors (you remember when Musk was openly paying people to show up at Trump rallies and pledge their support in spite of campaign finance laws, I think that is the closest thing to something provable in this direction).
Every single time these guys make a ridiculous accusation, we should probably go beyond just ignoring it as I would have previously recommended, and instead wonder if it's an admission.

About 12ish years ago I met a group of guys at a hotel. Wicked cool guys, we probably drank a dozen beer. They were on their way to a protest. They told me they were paid $400 each to go (would be paid cash when they arrive). I asked them what they were going to protest, and they didn’t know. We were several beers deep then, and had a laugh about it.
Anecdotal, I know. This was in BC, so not Alberta. Paid protesters aren’t new.
I don’t know how their trip ended,aybe they didn’t get paid. I don’t know.

I love that it reads almost exactly like one of those right wing grift accounts posting about something they heard in a Starbucks or some heavily (assumed) liberal place, about how everyone secretly loves Trump.

I love that you love it.
What make you think it was a partisan story in any way?
Weird.

A few years back when it happened, I walked around the Ottawa convoy crew for a few days, and most of the people there told me they were funded by Russians and other over seas persons to park their truck in Ottawa for as long as possible. We all laughed about it and how real it was, and all of them had the same story. ####ing crazy, I know. Just my lived experience.

This is one of those situation where it's like... stop being anonymous. Stop hiding. If DF stands behind these views, do it publicly. But he won't. He's a coward, and he knows where that would get him. So he'll act like a normal human in public and vent his bile here, where he thinks it can't be traced back to him and affect his life.
I hope he's wrong about that.

You may be right. But I doubt it. We were having some good conversations, total strangers. They had no reason to lie to me.

No one pays 'wicked cool guys' $400, you pay winos and crack heads $10, your story blows chunks

Why give them $10 when you can just give them rocks instead? Makes everything so much easier, plus better return buying the crack in bulk.

Well they were travelling, and had to spend a night in a hotel. So they were travelling a decent distance. Both ways.
Nobody doing that for $10.
