Yeah weirdly it was the lead story on Global's national newscast tonight. Why would that be the most important news item in Canada?

Wow, the house could vote on the tariffs against Canada as early as tomorrow after the Republicans lost a key vote tonight. Are the Americans finally taking some action?!

Wonder if there'll be a growing trade of vaccine mules smuggling vaccines into the US.
https://arstechnica.com/health/2026/...a-flu-vaccine/
Quote:
The Food and Drug Administration has refused to review Moderna’s application for an mRNA flu vaccine, the company revealed Tuesday.
While the move came as a surprise to the high-profile vaccine maker, it is just the latest hostility toward vaccines—and mRNA vaccines in particular—from an agency overseen by the fervent anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. In his first year in office, Kennedy has already dramatically slashed childhood vaccine recommendations and canceled $500 million in research funding for mRNA vaccines against potential pandemic threats.
In a news release late Tuesday, Moderna said it was blindsided by the FDA’s refusal, which the FDA cited as being due to the design of the company’s Phase 3 trial for its mRNA flu vaccine, dubbed mRNA-1010. Specifically, the FDA’s rejection was over the comparator vaccine Moderna used.
In the trial, which enrolled nearly 41,000 participants and cost hundreds of millions of dollars, Moderna compared the safety and efficacy of mRNA-1010 to licensed standard-dose influenza vaccines, including Fluarix, made by GlaxoSmithKline. The trial found that mRNA-1010 was superior to the comparators.
Moderna said the FDA reviewed and accepted its trial design on at least two occasions (in April 2024 and again in August 2025) before it applied for approval of mRNA-1010. It also noted that Fluarix has been used as a comparator vaccine in previous flu vaccine trials, which tested vaccines that went on to earn approval.

Canada should try to entice some of these biotech firms to set up shop here, since the current administration seems to not think much of them.

Ya it’s weird but not new.
What was the case a few years ago where CNN and other networks were tracking the plane authorities had used to fly in a suspect and had crews live at the airport for landing?

Now CNN is running a full on biography of the life of Nancy Guthrie, including details of her childhood and marriage. Interviews with her pastor, friends and others.
FOX News has two toll free tip lines on screen.
This is all very weird. You would think this is the crime of the century.

The problem is with the market structure. Americans pay so much more for drugs than everyone else that any research that doesn't lead to US approval is automatically uneconomic. It doesn't matter where you perform the research but it matters a lot whether you can sell the drug to US insurance companies.

They seem to see it as an opportunity to create a true crime reality mystery, which is very voyeuristic and creepy and will probably work. People suck.

The U.S. has halted all flights to and from El Paso International Airport in Texas for "special security reasons," the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said on Wednesday, without giving more details.
Flights were also barred from the airspace over the nearby community of Santa Teresa in the U.S. state of New Mexico, the FAA said.
The airport, which is next to the U.S. military's Biggs Army Airfield and sits over #the border from the Mexican city of Juarez.

At the same time, I imagine part of how big a deal is being made is related to her being the mother of another news anchor.

I don’t get the popularity of True Crime shows and podcasts. 59 minutes of teasers and misdirections, and one minute of actual revelations.

That was all really weird. A 10 day shutdown including medivac was the original announcement.
Then lifted a few hours earlier.
Then they announced it was to shutdown an incursion of cartel drones.
The 10 day shut down was a pretty big over-reaction if that was what was going on?

This is the kind of thing that happens when you put inexperienced people in positions of power in national security agencies, especially ones that are overly concerned over southern border security.
A bunch of children play-acting as adults. Pathetic.

It was General Ramon Esperanza.
Good thing John Mclean was there to greet him.

White House is hosting a “Champion of Coal” event today, where Trump will outline plans to redirect Pentagon funding to support coal-fired power plants.
He is also set to receive an award from the Washington Coal Club, as part of broader efforts to expand coal use and roll back climate regulations.
I have an idea. We need to make him the 'Grand Poobah of Maple Syrup' or the 'Imperial General of Moose' or something. Problem solved.

Turns out its not illegal to remind the military members not to follow illegal orders
https://www.cnbc.com/2026/02/11/kell...p-hegseth.html
A federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., declined a request by prosecutors to indict two Democratic U.S. senators,#Mark Kelly#of Arizona and Michigan’s#Elissa Slotkin, on charges of seditious conspiracy, MS Now reported Tuesday night.
The attempted indictment of Kelly, a former U.S. Navy captain and the former CIA analyst Slotkin related to a#video#in November that they made with four other Democrats in Congress, on which they reminded members of the U.S. military that they have the right to refuse to follow illegal orders by superiors.
