For all the quislings that were scared it appears like Trump Always Chickens Out (TACO) was on Sunday not Tuesday. You can always count on a TACO but it used to be TACO Tuesdays. I hope all the conservative commentators who were quite scared on Friday can breath a little easier, turns out we did not have to bend the knee quite as quickly as they wanted to.
Quote:
KARL: Trump gave Canada a green light for a deal with China, then 9 days later he's saying, 'That's it. 100% tariffs.'
BESSENT: Well, no. There's a possibility of 100% tariffs if they do a free trade deal.

I just hope we put on our big boy pants now and learn to be more self-sufficient, all the while creating jobs here. Trump isn't going to be around forever, and I can totally see his own people who voted for him getting aggravated with his antics. He's getting bolder and bolder and it seems to be a matter of time before he doesn't have any more friends to make his plan (whatever it is), work.

I don't think we need to be self sufficient, we just need to be 'not the US sufficient', at least LNG to the east coast, greater ties to the EU, somehow the US makes it's military work with it's economy, we should find a way to copy some of that, having a viable military shouldn't be just a net economic drain.

Great, so now we know we don't have to pretend. Business as usual.

This isn’t exactly breaking news. We’ve known for months now that those tariffs aren’t coming off unless: a) Congress suddenly grows a spine (not likely) or b) the Supreme Court rules against the tariffs, which shockingly is likely according to most legal experts. However, the SC keeps delaying their ruling. I don’t know what they’re scared of. They have lifetime appointments FFS. It’s not like Trump can fire them if they rule against him.

The US Supreme Court almost always releases their decisions in May or early June, this won't be any different.

They release rulings at other times though, and there was speculation that they were set to rule on this the week of January 19th, I believe.
