I sometimes wonder if Alberta will become more important than BC in Canadian politics and affairs. Which makes me worry about yokels like Danielle Smith and her ilk.

Contrary to popular belief I think that Alberta/Albertans have been very important to federal politics since 1947.

Alberta is projected to overtake BC in population by 2036 so it's probably coming.

Unless we separate and 500,000 people leave the province

I'm not sure our statements are mutually exclusive

Yeah, I would agree with that, but if the population of Alberta keeps climbing at it's current rates we are going to need more Federal money to fund our Health Care and Education systems.

We keep adding people at this rate and we're going to need some help.

So, worst case scenario, the resolution passes and people start to move. Realistically, I think the number is way lower than people are guessing. Selling a home, finding a job, and moving are major undertakings.

That said, my fear is that my house price collapses and I am unable to sell it for even close to what it is 'worth' today. I would be basically stuck, as I am sure many others would be as well. What is the plan then? Make the best of it as an 'Alberta-istan' or start studying the citizenship exam for the US?

And before anyone says it would never happen, remember Brexit. This #### is real. My fear is not the die-hards but the ones that vote yes "Just to send a message to Ottawa." That is truly a FAFO scenario. Would we be able to keep our Canadian citizenship?

I've already started the process of my citizenship to Lichtenstein.

You may want to spell the name of the country correctly if you want citizenship there.

Liechtenstein

If a player is credited for a goal when on the bench (because they dumped it in, changed off and the opposing team scored an own-goal) do they get back on the ice and do a line of high-fives?

I would do it. But I'm often told that people shouldnt do things I would do.

Would it be a real dick move? Maybe high-five the other team since they're the ones that put it in the net? That'd make for some interesting TV....
