Toews still injured, would suck if he went into the tournament hurt with guys like Schaefer and Chychrun left behind. Toews goes in hurt and has a setback during the tournament and Canada has to move Harley up just spells recipe for disaster. Also Logan Thompson hurt and before that he was playing his worst hockey of the season. Canada has so much depth there is no need to go into the tournament with banged up guys. It’s already gonna be a blood bath once you hit the later rounds.

Brayden Point is still out of the Lightning lineup as well. At some point they need to consider replacing players that obviously won't be at 100% before the tournament starts.

Landeskog is also still injured, which might open the door for Backlund, although I think they're different positions on paper at least.
They already added Johanssen to replace Leo Carlsson.

Seems like Bedard would be a good fit to replace Point if he is injured. Though it always seems like these teams go a different direction than the obvious choice (eg. Johansson instead of Backlund).

Any update on Cirelli’s injury from yesterday’s stadium game?

I haven’t seen one and I don’t want this to come off the wrong way as it sucks any time a guy gets injured but it would probably be better for Canada if he can’t go.

Seth Jarvis should be on the team. He's having an outstanding season, and is the perfect utility player for basically any role. He plays in all situations; his backcheck on Kopitar's breakaway yesterday was a thing of beauty.

I also echo what others are saying that guys not close to 100% need to be replaced. I get the desire to play through it but Cirelli in particular guys was replaceable from the start. Getting injured was the icing on the cake. Point was having a slightly off year too. Just get it over with.

Yeah if they weren't Tampa Bay players this wouldn't even be a question and Cooper would have been pushing for a replacement already.

You're not 95% or better, then you shouldn't be at the olympics.

So you're saying that Matty Tkachuk probably shouldn't have "toughed it out" and played a couple shifts of the 4 Nations finals at the expense of a 40 goal guy being health bombed?

Sam Bennett was injured in last night's game as well. He would have been my replacement pick for Cirelli.

Bennett is going to score a clutch goal. Book it.

As much as I was fine with Bennett being left off the team, getting Cirelli off is addition by subtraction. This is a much stronger lineup than it was yesterday.
