Feels like Alcaraz isn't gonna be leaning on any single major to pump up his count, primarily because there isn't a superman out there to stop him at specific majors like there was in Aussie (Novak), RG (Nadal), and Wimbledon (Fed, later Novak). Maybe Sinner might have that potential in Aussie, but we'll see.

Bianca Andreescu update: While the AO was going on, Bianca was playing some smaller ITF tournaments in Florida on the road back to the WTA tour (hopefully). She's three tourneys in and has won two out of the three tournaments she has entered.

Charlie has decided to withdraw from Rotterdam where he is the defending champion. Sounds like he just wants some extra rest with Doha on the schedule the week after which will have both Sinner and Djokovic in attendance.

Leylah off to a very shaky start in 2026 as she loses in straight sets to McCartney Kessler and it wasn't close. 8 double faults today and her service toss was all over the place. I mean, that serve is never going to improve if you don't have a consistent toss. That brings me to this tweet that showed up in my feed yesterday, the greats never forget to stress the fundamentals.

For how great he was, it's interesting that Federer only has 1 French open so only completed this once.
Nadal did it twice. Djokovic did it 3 times (unless he can win another French open title).
So I guess Alcaraz or Sinner has to win each of the tournaments at least 4 times to be the GOAT.

Fed likely bags 5 FO trophies without Clay God in the way. Struck down in the semis in 05, 19, finals in 06, 07, 08, 11

Oh I know. It'd be interesting to see what would have happened if Federer was still chasing something as I think he lost motivation after finally getting his French Open and then surpassing Sampras at Wimbledon that year.
At that point he had 15 grand slams, while Nadal was at 6 (4 French and no US open yet) and Djokovic was at 1 slam. If they were closer or if he was chasing some other record I think he would have ended up with more than the 20 he got.
But I guess that's always the way it goes. Someone sets a record and then someone comes along like Djokovic or Nadal to break it. Now Alcaraz needs 24 slams and at least 3 of each to get up to Djokovic's level.
