I think that’s a dream matchup for the Blizzard. They’re not going anywhere so might as well play Montreal!
It’s also the spot I wanted for Cavalry. And after a year break they’re back to playing Pacific in Can Champ. As God intended. Last year the chumps bombed out hard so they should have all the motivation needed to go to Victoria.
That's an amazing draw for Blizzard. They'll get hammered of course but it'll be so much fun for them to play in that stadium in Montreal.

In league news, Canadian Premier League has asked to help trial the daylight offside rule. Don't think I've seen it reported on by any Canadian media yet
The Canadian Premier League is set to trial Arsene Wenger's "daylight" offside rule.
It was presented to the International Football Association Board (Ifab) at its annual business meeting on Tuesday.
It will now go forward to the annual general meeting in Cardiff on 28 February. If approved, the trial will begin when the Canadian Premier League kicks off in April.

for people like me who don't know "there must be clear daylight between attacker and defender for an offside offence to occur."
Currently if ANY part of the body that can legally score a goal is closer to the the goal line then the second last opponent is considered to be in an offside position.
The trial is now saying that the attacker must be fully clear of the defender, ie daylight between the attacker and the defender. Just changes the point at which the attacker is considered to be offside.
So would that mean we're getting a basic form of VAR also? The whole daylight offside thing came about because of frustrations with pixel counting and declaring someone offside because their big toe was a pixel ahead.
In real time, things are less precise and I'm not sure that "daylight" is needed - it is already a bit fuzzier in real life. And I would argue that measuring the gap is probably more difficult to a human than measuring the alignment of bodies.

I doubt it. That's bloody expensive. The IFAB will want these rules tested in VAR and non-VAR environments before full adoption into the Laws of the Game I'm sure.

Pacific won't pay their bills and now have to pay in advance to use their stadium. They are starting to feel like FC Edmonton and Valour which is a shame because I thought for the first few years they had a really solid club.

I like it for the most part. The font is a little odd but overall I think it's an improvement. Reminds me of some old CFL stuff a little which isn't a bad thing
And all the League 1s have aligned with the same branding and they're now names like "Alberta Premier League". Too many "premier leagues" for my liking but the consistency is good.

Don't mind the logo but not sure why effort was put into that when they have some more pressing issues.
Prairies Premier League launching is a pretty big deal. Couple of former PDL clubs in Thunder Bay Chill and FC Manitoba and then 5 other clubs in Saskatoon, Regina and Winnipeg. Hopefully with the lack of any kind of pro soccer people get behind clubs.
