Lol! Preach your truth! I'm never getting rid of my 403.

I know its petty. I know its stupid. But years and years ago I had to contact one of two companies to perform Warranty repairs on my fridge. I could pick either one, its all warranty work.

One company had a 403 number and the other had a 587 number.

With no other method for differentiating between the two companies...I picked the one with a 403. Figuring 'they've been around longer.'

When I started my Company I made sure to get a 403 number.

In traffic, when I see the different license plates? I have an old-school Alberta 3-letter, 3 number plate. Anyone who doesnt is a hazard upon our roads!

We're gettin' old man...we're gettin' old.

Not petty at all...or at least acceptably petty. Yeah back in 2013 I was practically arguing with my cell phone carrier about securing a 403, and I'm not that type of person at all. I always feel like Elaine (Seinfeld) with the new area code, how she's embarrassed about it. How else is anybody supposed to know I'm a rare YYC pure-bred??

I know!! One of the few! I have a 403. I have a 6-numeral license plate! I've been here since the dawn of time immemorial! I have a degree from the University of Calgary. I was born here, schooled here, grew up here. The whole 9-yards.

A long time ago, back when sending silly porn clips through company email was a thing for that few years. There was a time where it was partially acceptable.

I got one of this girl in the middle of a crowded mall pulling up her skirt and showing her beaver. My co-worker. He was Aga Khan or whatever that is all about. He was hilarious , so I send it to him but changed the extension to .dll from .mpeg for my own security (haha) with a note saying to change the file type back to watch it. In the office next to me.

Hour later he rushes into my office freaking out. You gotta help me. I go to his office, he had changed it back and sent it to his friends and the mangaement team accidentally. It was at the AEUB and the top selection of the mail groups was #AEUB management and he must have accidentally double clicked that.

He deletes the sent item, but you know that isn't going to do anything. Oh no. I'm kinda laughing because I am free and clear because he could not just forward it. He had to save the file, change the file extension and re-send it in a fresh email.

So it went the the head of HR (who you could imagine was quite the battleaxe), all the board members and top management. Dude you are fataed.

Boss comes in and tells me to get out immediately and starts making phone calls for damage control because his employee just sent a beaver to the head of HR. This meek indian dude, and I fataed his life not on purpose.

i still laugh and feel wicked guilty about it.

Geez I practically forgot about that. Was always a nice little treat checking out the forwarded porn. Haven't had anybody forward me porn in probably 15 years.

You would never do that now, but there was a new frontier then.

My young engineer was the roommate of one of those guys who Eiffel towered that girl at the Stampede a while back and that video went viral. He was a celebrity.

Message Recall is the feature designed to save your ass, it's a shame he didn't know how to use it.

It can also prevent reply-all storms by recalling the inciting message from as many mailboxes as possible... on that note, the story of the grand-daddy of all reply-all storms: Bedlam DL3

My first corporate job was with a large multinational company.

The VP at the time (he was old has dirt) used to do staff luncheons 1 Friday a month with a select group of co-workers

The select group were all males and the luncheon was done at the French Maid. He would pay with the corporate credit card, because IIRC the receipt just listed a numbered company.

He also loved to send porn by email.

Wouldn't have saved him from anything, all it does is send each recipient a notice stating that the sender would like to recall a message, and it requires them to accept before it deletes the original message from their inbox. No one ever actually does that though

We got you, bro! Just confirming your email is Sliverneedsdicpics@horneyoldman.com.

If everyone could send him some porn as a nice little treat, I am sure he will appreciate it.

As stated below, recall is pretty useless. However, message send delay can give you some hope at least.

Not how it works; message recall's function is conditional:

The message that the sender wants to recall:
1. Hasn't yet been read by a given recipient. For any recipient that hasn't yet read the message, Exchange will delete the message from their mailbox. At worst, that user might have a stale notification showing the subject of the message.
OR
2. Has been read by a given recipient. For any recipient that has read the message, Exchange will send the notice that the sender would like to recall the message, which is to warn the recipient that the original message might be outdated/inaccurate/contain other issues, etc.

I have seen a message disappear from my list of unread messages in my Outlook client because it was recalled and I hadn't opened it yet. That's literally how it's supposed to work. Very early versions of the message recall feature did behave how you mentioned, but that's a long time ago.

EDIT: There's also an admin-configurable option as to how recall is handled, 'RecallReadMessages' can be set to override the above logic so read messages are recalled too. The default in M365 (Exchange Online) is 'true'.

Has to be six digits and no vowels to be considered pure. The rest are heathens.

I just found an old 6 digit plate in our storage room. Absolutely thinking about reregistering that one when we're up for renewal again. At the very least I plan to hang onto our current "red plates" for as long as possible with the new garbage the UCP brought in.

They gave me a 587 number in 2015 when I left my employer and they wouldn't let me keep the number. They absolutely wouldn't do anything in the the store for me, but said I could change it online the next day. The next day I logged on and there was a huge list of numbers, 403's and 587's, that had been abandoned. So I've been a proud 403 number for all but 1 day of my life.

Thank you! I'm definitely looking into this. I made my peace with the 587, but hearing some recent Toronto transplant securing a 403 has re-opened an old wound...
