The city shut off our water and we probably won't get it turned back on for a few days. It has nothing to do with the main break but anyone who whined about cutting back can suck my dick right now.

It is a struggle, our new washer and dryer set doesn't show up until March and we're stuck using this godawful washer-dryer combo unit that came with our condo. It does a crappy job at washing and drying.

Where in the Gantt chart of dick sucking are we? Sometimes when I’m about to deliverable I have to use some constraint

Wasn't the daily water use target the same amount of 485 M litres the first time this happened? Or was it lower? With population growth since then was this target realistic?

The City dropped the request for proposals for the replacement and instead went sole source last week to...Santiago Calatrava.

Sorry, just kidding. Ward and Burke Microtunneling was awarded the construction contract and Graham Construction as the construction manager.

Graham is who pooched the peace bridge, not Calatrava team. They didn't send an inspector to Spain to inspect the shabby welds before the members were shipped.

Yes, but it's more fun to bring up Calatrava's name because it fires people up.

I prefer to fire people up by telling them any major construction delays are so they can install a bike lane. The 4th ave flyover construction was especially fun for that line.

He sold us a better bridge than he sold Venice. That one has really annoying awkwardly spaced steps. I think they sued him for that one. Not the step spacing, but some other bridge stuff. Bridges!

The City of Calgary urgently accelerates Bearspaw South Feeder Main replacement

That's a year earlier than originally planned. Looks like they have the alignment decided, and

Hard to argue that it doesn't need to get done urgently, so it is good to see that they've put this into high gear. I would be surprised if we didn't have at least one more rupture before the replacement is operational, even at this accelerated rate.

But - get 'er done. Calgary (and so many other cities) has an infrastructure/maintenance deficit that is coming home to roost, and it isn't going to be cheap.

I guess I have a hard time understanding why we hadn't moved on to the "urgent replacement" plan after the first time the line failed. How was there an entire year of slack in that schedule?
