We all hope to get more of course, but I think in reality the Flames are trading a centre that starts next season at 36 years old. A 1st + a reclamation/development project with draft caliber wouldn't be a bad return in my eyes.

Some of you need the take a breath on a GM's interview.
Whether he's planning to trade Whitecloud or not, he's not going to come outright and say, nah, we're just going to bide our time until we can deal him
Re Parekh, he's not just going to play only on the powerplay. For love of God. He's a rookie, he's not going to be playing 25+ min a night, and beyond that, it shows what we want - play a lot of the powerplays, let him try things etc in a safer environment, etc
Holy smokes. Take a breath.

To CAR: Kadri
I'd do that.

Montreal is another target. Also Buffalo, I would expect Jarmo to make a swing to get the team finally to playoffs.

Dreger said top 10 protected but there is nothing about any conditions on the 27 first in the press release from CGY

Powerplay Quarterback

Conroy is still a youngish GM so maybe he learns from this and trades Coleman now because teams clearly value having that extra year.

So, what happens if Vegas wins the cup this season and is in the bottom 10 next year.

We then own Vegas' 2028 and 2029 1st round picks.

I do think that the Pachal and Hanley have a strong chance to be moved this season as depth defencemen always have a market. Whitecloud has 2 more seasons, but a low hit. Maybe he gets dealt this season, but I doubt it. More likely in the off-season is what I would guess.
I guess the focus no shifts to Coleman and Kadri. Hopefully the returns end up with much more universal praise (if they happen).

Here are the conditions:
* conditions: Calgary will receive a 2028 1st-round pick (VEG) if Vegas' 2027 1st-round pick is top-10 overall.
** conditions: Calgary will receive a 2028 1st-round pick (VEG) if Vegas wins the 2026 Stanley Cup, or a 2029 1st-round pick (VEG) if Vegas wins the 2026 Stanley Cup and Vegas' 2027 1st-round pick is top-10 overall.

Wish he would have said we are gonna treat players like cattle, coz treating them like human beings is limiting trade returns.
Break a leg in Vegas ras. Whether that is literally or figuratively, will leave that up to your interpretation.

I don't think they will trade Whitecloud. I believe he is the Rasmus replacement to try to stay somewhat competitive and not tank.
I would be shocked if we trade him.

I am not sure why everyone is so upset over this deal. I hate that it was Vegas but I do think this is about as good of a deal as we were going to get even with an extension.
|
I agree with the positive sentiment but this is a really odd take. Id rather Danielson/Poitras, two guys who are already playing pro hockey and doing quite well at it than the mystery box in the 2nd round. Id also rather the 25 year old Lohrei with objectively much, much better analytics than the 29 year old Whitecloud.

Not convoluted enough. Conny lost the trade based on that alone.
