Was Bystedt scratched too? Otherwise the logic falls apart a bit.
I still want it to be the Sharks... they have to see that the way this is going will leave them with very limited options on July 1st for upgrading their D group and they'll essentially be stuck extending their current group.
Hoping that Andersson will be available later for free isn't a strategy, it's just wishful thinking.

He'd be the additional piece to the 1OA. But also he's listed on some sites as a C.

I was out for a while today but scanning Friedman's comments on sportsnet it seems like Calgary has a deal they like from Boston and OKed talks between Andersson and them which are ongoing but it's not a slam dunk he will sign there and he likes Vegas - but Vegas are lowballing us - is that about right?
And on here comments from our insiders that another Western team might be stepping up and trying to get themselves into being able to talk to him too?

Yes. That's the summary. Edit: no except Vegas. Vegas knows they can sign anyone they want to but they don't have the assets to compete for Andersson, according to Friedman.

I still think he's going to be a pretty good 2nd line LW. Big + Skilled = Good.

Yeah and I suspect the reason why the deal details leaked out last night is because
- The Flames and Bruins agreed on what they deal WOULD be if Rasmus is willing to extend
- Rasmus expressed openness to extend
- The Flames then allowed Rasmus' representatives and Boston to engage with each other.
Now it's a matter of if they can find a contract that works for both sides, knowing that to bypass his best UFA opportunity Rasmus will probably be looking for somewhat of an overpay.
So that's why nothing has been finalized.
And then perhaps with all the buzz in the last 48 hours, that increased the urgency for another team(s) to try and still get in there.
I know some people are frustrated but I find this stuff an absolute hoot. This is the fun stuff.

Yeah it actually makes total sense now, effectively we do have an accepted deal between the teams so the leaks last night make sense. But it's delayed because Rasmus and the Bruins are still negotiating.
It's encouraging that he's talking to them at least. You would think if they've come this far and he's listening there's a deal to be made if Boston will pay the price and he's not asking for something ridiculous.
Would be amazing if any of our insiders hear anything as to how that's going and how likely it is that he signs.
I agree that it's kind of fun but I think everyone will be upset if he refuses to sign with Boston, Detroit or the other western team so he can go to Vegas this summer and the Flames essentially lose a key piece because of it. Totally his right to do so, but probably also flames fans right to hate Vegas even more and boo a bit when he turns up at the dome wearing mustard silks, might sour the love in a little.

Other teams can get in there now to try to get Rasmus's ear, but I think the reality is if Andersson and the Bruins do come to terms on a deal then you can't reneg on that.

Draft Pick
|
Teams coming in now......with the rumored price already out there, can only be good for Calgary and with the Toronto draft pick possible that's a decent price. Teams will have to have a good package.

It must be weird for Rasmus to play a game with the Flames while he and his camp are negotiating a contract with another team. Trades happen a lot but this is rarer. Often new deals get announced soon after a trade, as both parties are comfortable with the parameters of a contract. You hear about this being discussed as part of due diligence. Obviously the bruins are not yet comfortable about Rasmus willing to extend or the deal would be announced.
