I too think they're overall better than the end of season with Atkins' acquisitions. I do wonder which players will regress a bit given the increased eyes on guys who seemingly came from nowhere. Specifically those guys are Clement, Barger, and Yesavage. They'll all have to adjust to whatever weaknesses they have and those will be exploited. No doubt overall they got better, even with Bo gone, Clement bought himself the second base daily now. I really do think they should double down on defense and sign Valdez. That definitively moves out Berrios through a trade, perhaps for a legit closer. That SP could beat out any team, with the exception of maybe LA.

I feel like if it was that high, Bo would have taken it rather than playing third base for the Mets for the next four years.

I would think so. I don't think he's on pace to make $300MM over the next ten years given his current contract and his age when its finished.

Yeah my guess is Bo would’ve been under $30MM a year for probably 7.
But it seemed they cared more about the Tucker chase than him.

Scherzer a nice to have but hopefully the WS run gave the entire roster some of the experience he provided.
On paper they are probably better. Bullpen still could be an issue.
Team unity which seemed like a real thing last year, and probably helped with all the come from behind wins, even just one less would’ve had them had to play a Wild Card series and may not have had the gas to get to the WS, nevermind Game 7, but that chemistry can’t be manufactured though, no matter how much the media will make it a feel good narrative.
Would Tucker and or Bichette change any of the above? Probably not. Being better on paper doesn’t mean they’ll get anywhere near the same agonizingly close place they got to in November. Santander needs to step up, and everyone else has to be pretty close to how they were last year. Expectations already were playoffs at very least given the payroll, and now with $300MM spent, it’s more than just a “just get in”.

I think on paper they are better than last year. I feel like Bo was particularly clutch though and will be missed

I'd say the Jays are probably done adding.
If Okamoto's talents translate to MLB and Santander brings his 120 wRC+ 30+ homer bat I see a position player group just loaded with 2-6 fWAR players backed by one the best and most versatile benches in MLB.
On the pitching side they have 7 good to great starters on the roster already, plus solid SP depth in AAA, and the BP is so deep that they have guys like Fluharty, Fisher and Rodriguez listed in the minors right now, and they combined to pitch 170 MLB innings last year on a team that won 94 games in the regular season.
Bring on the season.

Outside of a work stoppage, I think it’s very likely Bo is on the market in a year. But the Jays weren’t that interested in him this offseason, can’t see what makes them interested in paying him as much or more next year.

It wasn't that they weren't interested. They weren't interested in the price tag that Bo had attached to himself. And rightfully not. Bo wants premium short stop money and the man at no point has been a Premier short stop and Infact is no longer a shortstop.

Why do you think Bo will be on the market in a year? You think he'll be frustrated playing 3B, enough to give up $13M/season? I personally think he'll laugh his way to the bank for the duration of the contract. In no way do I think he's bad. His bat is great. Fielding suspect. But unless he's having an atrocious time and gets wind that someone will offer him $42M again, he's going to stick it out.

He’s also young at 27. Unless he falls off a cliff, there’s plenty of time for a retirement contract at age 30.

I think that only happens if he has an A+ season and thinks he can be the #1 FA next year.

He could have a terrible season in the field and at the plate, and assuming he doesn’t get injured, the only question any team will have next year is his decision making to chase after money to go play a position he’s never played. Given his age and ability he’d still get a longer term deal as he was looking for this year.
But given an out of position season, and the pressure and oft dysfunction of the Mets, the NY media etc, I think it will get to him enough and when he has a free choice to go to any number of places, I think he will get into a more comfortable spot on and off the field.
A interested team won’t hold a single bad season against him given those circumstances. My guess is he may not get more than $30MM a season. but that’s what he was hoping for this FA window on a long term deal in the first place this year.
He’s made “set for life “ money already with $42M this year so making another $200MM over the next 7 won’t have him crying poor.
