Well there are a couple of factors.

1) He's willing to sign with them
2) They are willing to pay his asking price on the contract and the assets to move him in the deal

It might be tough for teams to pay both a UFA level contract overpayment and the assets required in trade.

Rumours posted earlier said the Flames weren't letting the agent talk extension with teams earlier and only recently allowed it.

My guess (and hope) with all the noise, is that the Flames have a couple of trades in principal they like with a couple of teams that Andersson has indicated he would sign with at the right price, and the Flames have green lit negotiations with those specific teams.

Andersson gets the free agency treatment without having to go to free agency.

Do we all get to blame Andersson's wife if the return is lower then hoped when he talks to her tonight and gets her opinion on where to sign an extension !

I will start sharpening my pitchfork tonight!

Andersson's willingness to sign, and the signing team offering a contract he is agreeable to are two different beasts.

He might be getting low-balled

Maybe Miromaov’s cousin is toiling on the Vegas farm that they can trade us along with a 2nd…?

I wonder if Utah makes sense, they are pushing hard for the playoffs, deep prospect and draft pick pool. Maybe Anderson for Cole Beaudoin, 2026 1st & 2026 3rd round picks.

Wasn’t there a rumoured deal this past summer that Raz stopped because he wouldn’t sign in LA? If that was the case wouldn’t it be reasonable that Conny would know to only engage teams that he might be willing to sign with? Therefore, most of the teams in the convo are potential landing spots for him. Hopefully it’s just a matter of what’s the best return and which of these teams makes the biggest extension offer.

I mean we don't know anything except what insiders give us but haven't we heard from multiple ppl that Vegas is out?

Also, EFF off Vegas. And it'd be kinda silly for CGY to help Vegas in any way so their draft pick potentially lands lower whereas if they dealt with a team the Knights are competing against they can help themselves get a higher draft pick. Doesn't make sense for Vegas to be in this

It's possible that the reason he wasn't interested in signing with LA had nothing to do with the city, and everything to do with what they were offering. He wasn't playing as well last year and it could be that the offer was in the $7s or something, and he simply preferred to wait, and bet on himself

I wonder if the announcements from the Rangers change things:

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...act-extension/

Panarin is on the block now. I know it's a vastly different position than Andersson, but teams only have so many assets to trade/cap space.

Honestly F these guys. They steal the Flames' best prospects, F things up, and then compete for the tank.

Yes and no.
There are basically different tiers.

1. Teams Ras has on his NTC list. No sense getting offers from them.
2. Teams Ras may be willing to sign with.
2a. He's open to it, but not willing to sign something pre-trade.
2b. He's open to it, and willing to sign
2c. He's not open to it, in which case the team may still look at him as a rental.

Conroy can engage on all of 2a, 2b and 2c for offers.

I believe Ras shot the rumour down pertaining to LA and I think it was left open that he wasn't even asked about signing anywhere else.

I would think that Panarin would affect the Coleman market more.

That's why they better give us the option to move the 2026 pick to 2028 while also adding 2027 1st. And Karlsson and Ihz-Wozniak should also be included. That would be a slight overpayment, but worth it in my eyes.

Hoping a different team lands him though.

Cool story, he used to be a backup goalie but now he’s a number one center!

I know we have to be cutthroat or whatever, but I would really prefer to move Ras as a rental instead of sending him to Vegas with an extension.

Why would CGY move the 26 pick to LV for the 2028. This doesn't make sense.

IMO, It'd have to be whatever 1st the Knights have unprotected, Trevor Connelly and IhsWozniak
