This has been a disappointing last 15 or so hours. Good for Bo. Crazy AAV for him. Maybe we will look at some trades now.

This year was the perfect storm for being a free agent. I think teams are blowing their wads while they still can

If you are Scott Boras you have to be pretty excited at what this means for Bellinger's deal, 4 years $200m?

Disappointing last 15 or hours, but if we pull out still a really good off-season.

Bo is expected to play 3rd for the Mets. I am not sure I get that, his arm wasn't strong enough for SS, how is it going to work at 3rd? I would think Semien at 3rd and Bo at 2nd would be a better use of the talent.

Again, disappointed, but the Jays off-seasons was already a win.

Happy for Bo. But sad to see him go.
The Jays must be thankful they signed a lot of free agents earlier in this process before these prices skyrocketed. Makes the Cease, Ponce, and Okamoto contracts look much better in comparison.

Okamoto and Ponce have some question marks on how they'll perform but I am still very excited since the upside on both is pretty good.

It's...not a ridiculous contract? AV is obviously ridiculous, but only three years feels like a decent win for the Mets. Guess we'll see the opt out structure.

I think the Jays will be fine, I am a bit worried about the lineup still as there are so many question marks.
-Will Springer repeat his performance of last year?
-Is Barger for real, or is he going to struggle?
-Can Clement continue to hit?
-What is Okamoto in the MLB?
-Can Tony Taters return to being a 30+ HR guy?
-Can Varsho stay healthy?
I honestly don't know the answers for a lot of these, I am hoping that it all works out, but baseball might be the hardest sport to predict.

Jays kind of took this risk with Bo.
If they offered like $180 x 6 at the end of the season he's probably still a Jay, but it would have been called an overpay then.
3 months later and that seems like a value deal based on these crazy contracts.
Only 3 years isn't the worst either for the Mets though. High pay but short obligations
I'm actually not sure that will be great for Bo, injury risk and his play could have him a FA at 32 and maybe not with the best offers on the table.

Huge question on Varsho's future too.
Last year of his deal before a looming lockout. Does he extend now, taking a safe approach with not knowing whats coming?
Or run the risk of free agency in what could be a salary cap world, who knows how long from now once a lockout ends?

$42m AAV is insane for Bo. He better stay healthy for the next 3 years because teams may not value a 30 year old injury prone, defensively limited 2B who shows more contact than power very much at that point. He seemed like a perfect candidate for a long term deal.

I’m sure the Jays had strong offers on the table for both but in the end Tucker and Bichette took the ludicrous offers that you just can’t say no to. In Bo’s case I had hoped the chance to chase a Championship with the team that drafted and developed him would counterbalance the money but that’s much easier said than done.

The rumors were he was always looking for 200-250$ million
He was always testing the waters unless a massive overpay
No way $180 gets it done

I just don’t see Bo fitting well at 3B. I guess having an awesome SS like Lindor can help cover for his serious lack of lateral range but his arm is just not very strong. Him having to come in on tappers/bunts towards third is going to be an adventure.
Thankfully New York fans are very compassionate and willing to deal with guys who make mistakes.
