People having fun and being entertaining are also my least favorite part of any of my hobbies. Why can't people just be serious about the serious business that is grown men playing with sticks while a half dressed dog shoots t shirts around a stadium with a bazooka. Don't even get me started on people telling stories or jokes at parties.

That is your view of Andersson where you value age over everything.
Try and ditch the bias for a moment and think about it more objectively.
How does RFA vs. UFA change the situation? (Andersson is a UFA, Dobson was an RFA)
How does play time change the situation? (Andersson consistently plays bigger minutes than Dobson)
How does the market and bidding war change the situation? (Many teams are in on Andersson, Dobson spoke to the Islanders and then Canadiens)
Currently, Andersson is putting up the same number of points on the second worst scoring team in the league as Dobson who is on the 7th best scoring team.
I doubt Andersson is going to look at that and settle for less when he has massive leverage.
I list multiple seasons that were better than Andersson’s career high but it is age that is my bias?
Well if Andersson wants to maximize his UFA value he goes to market otherwise I don’t see a big difference between a RFA in their mid-20’s and close to UFA vs a UFA turning 30.
I have never really heard minutes as an argument for more money? Andersson played a ton last year and was -38 he has bounced back which is great but hasn’t been consistently this good through his entire career.
How do you know that other teams in the mix for Dobson were not negotiating contracts with him as well. We do not know any concrete evidence the Flames have let Andersson negotiate with multiple teams or really any team at this stage.
Dobson is at an age (oh no bias) where he can be expected to improve and get better and play to this level or more for the entire life of the contract. While there are some Dmen that peak later into their 30’s like Gio I think it is pretty fair to hope for a few more seasons of this performance from Andersson but the back end of the deal is almost certain to be an overpay.
I have zero expectation that the flames get close to the same return for Andersson as the Islanders did for Dobson which was 2 picks in the middle of the first round and a decent young player.
If Andersson signs for $9.5M per on a max term deal then good for him but the team that signs that will almost certainly regret it.
Andersson is a solid top 4 Dman currently playing at a top pair level in a contract year. I wouldn’t want to pay him to be a top pair D for the next 8 years and while I really like the player, I am glad the Flames are parting ways.
I just can not see the Stars being able to resign Ras with Harley’s deal kicking in next year. Especially if they want to sign Robertson. If it is Dallas he is going as a rental.

I agree. Their cap situation is a mess even with the cap going up. They are going to need to move out Lyubushkin and hope they can fit Robertson and Andersson within $19M... which I doubt is enough. Someone else is going to have to go but their best options have full NMC (Seguin and Duchene).
But the Stars are not in on Andersson as a rental and with the other teams involved and with other Flames on the trade block they are not getting Andersson with retention for spare parts when those retention slots can add serious value to a Coleman and/or Kadri trade.
They are either going to pay up or they are not really in this.
The Flames future doesn't depend on the Anderson trade. Their future depends on how high they draft over the next few years.
The Anderson trade will hopefully provide some depth when the players we draft top five over the next couple years come into their own.
The difference between "winning" and "losing* the Anderson trade won't be earth shattering.
Drafting high is important, but only to a point. At the end of the day the Flames need to be able to develop their young players. Having good support pieces is crucial.
We already are Buffalo west lol. It is funny how they can't see that.
In terms of approach, we're the opposite of Buffalo. They've been tanking for a decade, and they traded away their best asset, who was on a long-term contract.
