That's at 35-38 years old. That's a big difference contract wise.

So? Look at any number of UFA signings over the last 20 years. GMs pay UFAs to get them and we often call them crazy after the fact.

There are loads of logical reasons to compare Dobson and Andersson right now and the craziness of GMs who do not want to miss out will always be the random factor.

Andersson getting $9.5Mx8 is reasonable. I can also see him settling for a bit less if he gets a team he really wants to go to. $10+ for a team that he doesn't love (Detroit).

This has been in a word, ridiculous. I think Knut nailed it when he said it’s probably not so much that things are necessarily different with trades these days it’s the phones and constant refresh and ability to hit f5 culture expecting instantaneous and frequent updates for the team.

That said, this one’s been going on a year and it’s getting a little much. Same with Coleman / Kadri, who should have been traded in November. Now ones injured and the other decided to not care anymore. It was obvious back in November what to do. Flames looking borderline mismanaged in all this, in combination with the poor PR etc.

WTF? Teams aren't buying in November. They are still figuring out what they have, how their rookies will fit in, etc. Once again it's like Conroy can just conjure up a trade at will.

1st round pick
Struggling younger roster player
Depending on said younger player's salary, an additional pick may be included.

I also expect that the flames retain salary on Andersson's contract for the remainder of the season.

Oh I fully anticipate maximum salary retention for Anderssons trade. Even if he signs an extension the acquiring team can still go out and beef up more when you add a top pairing RHD at 2.5m-ish.

Try and ditch the bias for a moment and think about it more objectively.

• How does RFA vs. UFA change the situation? (Andersson is a UFA, Dobson was an RFA)
• How does play time change the situation? (Andersson consistently plays bigger minutes than Dobson)
• How does the market and bidding war change the situation? (Many teams are in on Andersson, Dobson spoke to the Islanders and then Canadiens)
• Currently, Andersson is putting up the same number of points on the second worst scoring team in the league as Dobson who is on the 7th best scoring team.

I doubt Andersson is going to look at that and settle for less when he has massive leverage.

RFA would very much favor the trade package for Dobson.

The term "Fun". Seems to be vastly different for the few like yourself.

If it was serious business then sure, but they're gifs, and it breaks up the monotony of reading constant hair splitting of the smallest things to talk talk about.
