Zadorov is probably better than the average 11th overall. Hell he was drafted 16th and two teams gave him away

Meh. Unless the ink has dried on the deals I expect Andersson to keep playing for the Flames.
A lot of people are making a mountain out of the "if the trade is close then we must scratch the player" molehill. Some players get scratched, some play until the moment they are traded.
I expect that Conroy only scratches a player if the deal is actually done and waiting for the old fax machine to send it to the league.

You might be right on Silayev, but if he pans out, I doubt the Flames can add a better prospect for the players we are shopping.
The Devils could make the playoffs, but things aren't looking good for that 1st to move out of the top 22 unless they win in the playoffs. It's a risk, but teams like Dallas or Carolina or whoever else is in on Ras probably are trading 1sts 22OV or later. Those 10-15 spots in the draft are valuable IMO.
I also think that Dougie with RS is worth close to Ras as a rental. Maybe more as some of these teams might love the idea of adding Dougie @4.5M. Worked very well for Florida with Jones.

11th OA Picks from 2000-2020
2000: Pavel Vorobiev, 57 games, bust
2001: Fredrik Sjostrom, 489 games, bottom sixer
2002: Keith Ballard, 604 games, 4/5 defender
2003: Jeff Carter, 1321 games, top 6 guy, and top liner in his prime
2004: Lauri Tukonen, 5 games, bust
2005: Anze Kopitar, 1491 games and counting, elite 2-way center
2006: Jonathan Bernier, 404 games and counting, starter but not elite
2007: Brandon Sutter, middle six center
2008: Kyle Beach, well recorded history
2009: Ryan Ellis, 566 games, top-4 blueliner
2010: Jack Campbell, 176 games, starter for a bit
2011: Duncan Siemens, 20 games, bust
2012: Filip Forsberg, 825 games and counting, top line winger
2013: Samuel Morin, 29 games, bust
2014; Kevin Fiala, 696 games and counting, top line winger
2015: Lawson Crouse, 631 games and counting, middle-six guy
2016: Logan Brown, 99 games, bust
2017: Gabriel Vilardi, 314 games and counting, top 6 winger
2018: Oliver Wahlstrom, 236 games and counting, but considered a bust
2019: Viktor Soderstrom, 61 games, considered a bust
2020: Yaroslav Askarov, 45 games and counting, too early to tell
After the elite group, someone like Zadorov would fit pretty well in next tiers.

As long as Vegas is still interested in him , I doubt he would sign an extension anywhere. His wife has probably been looking up real estate , schools, ect for months . What we really need is for Vegas to pivot and spend assets on a different defencemen

The Vegas thing was debunked. I am sure Andersson has a list of places and teams he would be willing to go to with the mindset that he could be a core piece of a contending team for ~9 years.
Immediate contenders: Stars, VGK, 'Canes, Lightning, Panthers
Soon contenders: Sharks, Ducks, Mammoth, Red Wings, Canadiens
It will come down to which team trades for his services and if they offer him a "UFA quality" contract right away. At that point, Andersson's wife will start looking up stuff or calling a friend like Toffoli for help in finding a house and school.

Who was it debunked by? Not that I don't believe you, but this is the first time I have heard it.

Andersson and Conroy. It has been mentioned a couple of times in the last ~20 pages of this thread.
Most recently I believe it was Diss who posted the reminder to the class that the Vegas thing is not a fact.

Yeah, I guess so. Good point.
Camalerri did get pulled from a game when he was dealt to the Flames.
Jokinen and Prust played a game where the trade had already been leaked IIRC.
So, there is precedent for this type of stuff.

* Hamilton likes playing hockey.
* He isn’t into bro dude hockey culture.
* He has never been a coach’s favorite because of his play without the puck and unwillingness (or inability) to elevate his engagement in big games.
* Four teams have now moved on from him despite his high-end skill and production. He was never a core player on those teams.
* He’s being treated poorly by the Devils, who got themselves into cap trouble because of meddling by the owner.
* He has every right to use his NTC to block a trade he doesn’t want.
All can be true. None contradict the other.
And Hamilton is far from the first player to buck the social norms of hockey. Bobby Holik was known for spending his off-days going to museums and art galleries, and instead of playing cards on the plane he read fat books. But he also wore a letter on multiple teams, because he consistently played a heavy and committed game on the ice.

They don’t. Players like Crosby and McKinnon are not the norm. A lot of guys hate practicing. And a lot of guys who stand out when they’re kids for their offensive skill never muster any enthusiasm for playing hard away from the puck.
Elite team athletes can be weird that way - 9/10 enthusiasm for improving some elements of their game, and 2/20 enthusiasm for improving other aspects. Especially if the stuff they enjoy is enough to get them fat pro contracts.

Shane Gostisbehere, John Klingberg, Tyson Barrie, John-Michael Lyles, Lubomir Visnovsky, Phil Housley, Keith Yandle, Kevin Shattenkirk - loads of high-scoring defensemen who were liabilities in their own zone. They were weak defensively when they were drafted, and they were still weak defensively when they retired.

There is a fair bit of space between Bouchard and Hamilton vs Crosby and MacKinnon, good lord.
And yes, the other players you listed were all known for their offense, not their defense, but that doesn't mean they didn't improve defensively. It also doesn't mean that Parekh can't.
Hughes is a great example of what Parekh can emulate, if he works at it (which, by all indications, he wants to)
Let's try taking the conversation away from the extremes here

Maybe but the 11th pick has much higher value because everyone thinks they can draft the next Kopitar with it

I can think of a different 11OA pick that was even better than Kopitar.

Quinn Hughes is a great player for anyone to emulate but Hughes never had problems in his own zone, he was known for good positions defensively and strong on one-on-one plays on his draft year.

Ohh this is actually a fun discussion.
Kopitar: 1491 GP, 446 Goals, 1299 points, 2 Stanley Cups, 2 x Selke, 3 x Lady Bing
Iginla: 1554 GP, 625 Goals, 1300 points, 1x Art Ross, 2 x Richard, 1x Lester B Pearson, 2 x Olympic Gold Medal
Iginla is the better goal scorer, Kopitar the better defensive player, similar overall point production.
Honestly if I had to pick one to start a team I might lean Kopitar just since centers are more important than wingers but it's a fun comp.

If you feel this frustrated every day until (possibly) the TDL and beyond, make sure you have someone who can do regular wellness checks on you. Not kidding.
