I watched his matches in Dallas last year. The level he was playing that week would have got him deep in a grand slam as it was some of the best tennis I saw all year. That's what's so maddening about him as there's some greatness there but he's simply unable mentally to maintain the focus necessary to play at the insanely high levels he's capable of. Also he's one of the most aesthetically pleasing players to watch and the game would be so much better if he was a factor in most tournaments.

I'm actually gonna go with option #1. The JCF drama is Carrot's opening to run the table with less resistance. Nobody else was close to making him break a sweat last year at majors

article from Dec 31 with Wertheim's 2026 bold predictions

Mboko finishing the year ranked ahead of Andreeva caught my attention. Also he predicts Djoker will hang it up finally.

I have to believe Felix is getting a nice bundle of cash for his exho match versus Jannik Sinner coming up in just over a week from now.

Is this like soccer friendlies now? Sinner and Alcaraz are playing an exhibition in Seoul tomorrow. They are each getting 2 million euros for it!

I think i can beat her. I should start entering obscure WTA tournaments. 300 euros for losing!

Wow, something like this should not be happening even at a lower level tournament.

It will be Switzerland vs. Poland in the United Cup final. Hubi Hurkacz has been playing some excellent tennis down under this week for Poland returning from a pretty serious injury that derailed his 2025 season.

The greatest male tennis player Canada has ever produced. In an era where he had to play the Big 3 he found ways to beat two of them including his defeat of Federer on Wimbledon center court and climbed all the way up to #3 in the world.

Congratulations on a hell of a career.

How much does the narrative change if Milos wins that 2016 Wimbledon final over Andy Murray? He also made four Masters 1000 finals but didn't manage to grab one.

At any rate, he paved the way for guys like Felix and Shapo and gave them belief that a Canadian can reach the top echelon of singles in the men's game. He was a class act on and off the court as well.

Here's 70 seconds of Milos bombs...

Overnight down under, Gabe lost in straight sets to Andrea Vavassori and never looked comfortable during the match. However, Vicky won another 3-setter...

Additionally, Aussie Open qualifying is going on and Liam Draxl, Marina Stakusic, and Carson Branstine are still alive after winning their first round matches.

Marina Stakusic has advanced to the final round of Aussie Open qualifying. She has had more than her own fair share of injuries over the last year or so, but the ended 2025 on in good form. It would be quite the confidence boost if she ends up making the main draw.

Liam Draxl has also advanced to the final round of Aussie Open qualifying. Carson Branstine not as luck though as she was forced to withdraw from her match (she took two MTO's in her first qualifying match and was still hurting obviously).
