Default Create your competitive 2027/2028 new arena flames lineup

Try and make a realistic lineup for the flames for the season of the new arena that is competitive and makes the playofffs.
Since we suck right now, I'm trying to live in the future where we might be decent. See who can come up with the closest to the actual..

Current players that I think will likely be gone:
Kadri (gone in trade), Coleman (gone in trade), Andersson (gone in trade), Lomberg (moving on), Beecher waivers or whatever, Kirkland (ahl), Kerins (claimed on waivers), and I'm hoping Sharangovich is gone or replaced by some combination of a bunch of good trades.

My lineup:

1st line: Coronato - Frost - (2025 top 5 pick, Mckenna?)
2nd line: Huberdeau - Reschny - Zary
3rd line: Farabee - Backlund - Honzek
4th line: Klapka - Potter - Minor call up guy (Stromgren?)
Extras: Wyttenbach

Defense:
Weegar - Kuznetsov
Parekh - Bahl
Bru - Hanley
Extras: Pachal

Goalies:
Wolf
Cooley

It's a pretty young lineup, but might have a sneaky ton of skill with our young guys.. I'm being a little optimistic having Reschny and Potter in the lineup but I'm hoping they tear it up in the AHL next year.. I certainly can see Reschny as a rookie in the NHL in 2027.

This lineup would certainly more exciting than whatever we are watching now and could have a ton of potential for the future..

I think the 2026 first rounder will also be top 5 and will be on the team.

Highly unlikely imo they will be competitive that season unless they go out and do some serious damage on the UFA market (sign guys like Panarin). Suspect that is the year that they get their 3rd straight top 6 pick in the draft.

Would guess their first semi competitive year is 28/29.

Yeah it's certainly not guaranteed but I am choosing to be optimistic and the new arena really pumping guys up.. It's certainly possible.

I dont see the flames being competitive, mushy middle or 1st round punching bag.

Huberdeau - Frost - Coronato
Honzek - Zary - Farabee
2026 1R - Sharangovich - Gridin
Pospisil - Backlund - Klapka
Ciona/Kerins

Weeger - Parekh
Kuznetzov - Brzustewicz
UFA - Pachel

Wolf
Cooley

I would imagine Reschny and Potter would be making there Wranglers debut it 2027/2028.. Gridin is in the lineup. Pretty unrealistic to think they would leave college by then and be everyday NHL'ers on a "competitive 2027/28 lineup"

Dont see Hanley getting resigned at a 37 year old. Reschny a 2nd liner in 2 years? he hasnt even made his pro debut. Unrealistic drafting.

So Andersson, Coleman, and Kadri all traded away for 2nd round picks?

Is it really unrealistic that Reschny and Potter could be in the lineup in 2027?
Reschny is likely in the AHL next year, and what if he is a solid 1st year like Gridin? I'm guessing Gridin is in the NHL next year.

This is tough because I think there will be a lot of roster turnover and the team may also make a major trade for a mid 20s player or something

How are you getting rid of the Sharangovich contract? at best Reschny would be on the 3rd line, its unlikely hes even an everyday NHLer at that point.
