Wishful thinking anyways...

Trading Ras on a road trip, right before the Olympics is a complete d1ck move. I cannot see Conroy doing that.

Why?
There’s less than two weeks after the Olympics are done, before the trade deadline.
If a team wants a settled Anderson, or any player, used to a new city and team, it makes a lot of sense in getting that player into the team before they take 2.5 weeks off.

Ras is going to the Olympics. That's doing him dirty.

Dirty how?
If he wants out, it may make him feel better to be on whatever team he’s going to be on (as a rental or whatever) and into the new city before the Olympics.
Otherwise in the back of his mind while in Italy he wonders how the Flames situation will play out when he gets back. Don’t get hurt etc.
And, then he comes back from Italy, barely unpacks as he plays a few games in 2 weeks and then is shipped off to another city at the deadline; how is that any “better”?

The only negative thing I can say about Bahl is that, as I think we can all agree, it's better to have two of them.

Well...somewhat less callously put, you are correct, it is a business and it seems like a foregone conclusion that he is not being re-signed by the Flames so I'd imagine that his bags are already packed.
Dont get me wrong, I dont want to ship Andersson out, however, that is the nature of the business.
His career window and Calgary's window simply do not align. It sucks, but such is life.

There's a lot more for a family guy like Andersson to do when he's traded than "pack his bags". It's a pretty major upheaval, even when he knows something is coming. And if he's overseas it will be harder.

Andersson grew up the kid of a professional hockey player. His early childhood years were spent in four different countries. He understands the business.

No one is saying it's not a business or that he doesn't understand it. But if you trade him right before he leaves his wife ends up doing all the moving etc. if that's going to happen it should happen asap.

This is a really odd statement,
Players traded mid season are on a plane hours later for their new team, sometimes from the road to the new home, in no way shape or form does a player traded in Feb get 3 days off to pack up the house and hire a moving van.
Remember when LA just tossed Conroy out of the bus on the side of the highway in Red Deer, and said "you can probably find your own way to Calgary for the game tomorrow night, right?"

Not only that; if I’m making $4.55 million a year, and relocating for a chance to double that, I think I can scrape together enough pocket change to hire movers to do the packing.

Well that happens. You know what they say childhood friends are forever.. wait?
Also the kid is 4 and the youngest is creeping up on 2 years old. The kids are not even going to barely remember Calgary as a home even in 5 years. Studies have shown before age 4 you dont member anything really and between 4 and 7byou may remember a thing or 2 but never with clarity. The kids will be fine with the generational wealth he's making.
Im sure it will be tough for a month or 2 as the kids will rember untill school.starts next year and they slowly meet new kids at that age and then totally forget their old friends.

Jesus...
Look, it's not ideal being traded mid-season, but this is what Rasmus wants it seems, so he has to be okay with any difficulties for his family. Otherwise he would have agreed to any trade in the off-season. He's very likely intimately involved in this process as his agent seems to be looking to have a contract lined up as well to wherever he is traded. I'm pretty sure he can anticipate well enough to have a moving fan prepared for his family and hire some people to pack up his home. This isn't rocket science, people do this all the time in other industries. It's also not like he's being blind-sided with a trade out of nowhere. This has been in the works for over a calendar year.
I'm sure he and his family will be just fine.

Apparently, Parekh's comments lit a fire under the Flames team. Hopefully it's enough to win the next game.
"I think it's more watching NHL guys be robots and not having any personality," says Parekh," I think you need some personality, and it's the best way to grow the game. I don't want to come in here and be a robot."

Giving his family the whole Olympic break to move and get settled is the best situation available since players normally get no breaks. It’s gotta be this week I think.
