You all must not visit the Twitter/elon thread. You’re willfully engaging with bait, feel your shame and post accordingly.
I imagine their next post will be to explain how Django painted the poor landowning southern farmers of the time in a bad light as they were actually magnanimous job creators and that's before we get to mentioning the despicable celebration of anti white violence in the film

One Battle After Another in particular is quite bad. And it's s about 20-30 IQ points lower than PT Anderson's other films. Not sure why he decided to dumb things down, but it also seems to promote left wing political violence.
Sinners is pretty bad too, and like a lot of people have said, is just a rehash of From dusk Till Dawn, but under the guise of celebrating black music.
And of course, both have a weird violent racist massacre scene shoehorned in. This is becomming quite common in Hollywood, it started with inglorious Bastards and Kingsmen, then Logan, Prey, and now these two. I'm sure there's more, but I dont watch much mov ies these days, because they're mostly terrible.
Eddington, while not great, was much better than both. I'm not really a fan of Ari Aster, but it Eddington was much more interesting.

Blurring the lines between real life politics and entertainment is your first mistake. Some of us can compartmentalize fiction and evaluate it for what it is, and not take it as "promoting" anything IRL.
Imo OBAA was a far better outing than Eddington, and Aster is one of my favorite directors.
Eddington wasn't some masterclass in "high IQ" filmmaking, and certainly had its own share of eye roll inducing moments. Superbly acted, but the film as a whole was pretty drab, and felt like it had even less desire to entertain an audience than the personal exorcism that was Beau is Afraid (also better, I thought).

Since you need favorable political angles in your media though, I can see why you resonated with the themes of paranoid conspiracies and societal division that center around a vindictive loser sheriff that rebels against health advisories and feels his community owes him something–eventually culminating in him offing innocents and mowing down fictional deep government mercs/antifa adjacent entity. I guess the "right" kind of violence is acceptable violence?

Also, it's concerning when someone thinks a movie's thesis or a protagonist's actions have to be 100% in line with your own beliefs or moral structure.
Do you just write off anything that depicts choices you don't agree with? That sounds depressing and intellectually/emotionally unstimulating.

Seems we're finding more and more things that centrist and left leaning people are, in fact, easier going about.
Meanwhile the righty Karens need to vet their streaming options for appropriate political messaging.

I guess it was less obvious without the Kamala or AOC avatar.

Yup. It actually annoys me if a movie's themes or a protagonist's actions ARE 100% in line with my moral structure - or even anywhere close if it's at all obvious that the film is trying to pander to me or people like me. It's like the worst form of stage slap and it's always obvious. I have no idea why people appreciate that sort of thing in their entertainment; it's an obvious red flag.

Hey! I don't like to be beat over the head with the political pandering in my movies and TV shows.
On an unrelated note, my favourite TV show is Landman

At least they're honest about Oil Companies being amoral and unapologetic opportunists... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s always kind of surprising when you come across a new kind of stupid, or at least one you aren’t that familiar with. But people who can’t watch a hallmark christmas movie without perceiving a political agenda they disagree with have to be among the biggest losers on earth.

THat's why I stick with universally loved classics like Ayn Rand's Capitalism Saves Christmas

I prefer “Santa Saved” which centers around one brave Christian man who visits the town of Lordhollow after hearing they don’t celebrate Christmas and haven’t since Santa was cancelled for deeming some children naughty. Through God, faith, and a little Christmas magic, he’s able to bring Christmas back to the town and connect the townspeople with the true spirit of Christmas: exposing the lies and liberal corruption behind China’s COVID-19 attack on American freedom.
Written and directed by Kevin Sorbo.
