Went for drinks at OB soundroom with my old bud I lived with for a few years last night. His hippy arse moved to Nelson forever ago to open a Log home designing business and I have not seen him in a far too long time.

Brought his buddy that I knew well who does finishing carpentry for Concorde guys. Listening to Morcheeba, Massive attack and Tricky. It was great catching up. All on the precipice of retirement.

Come to work today after being in the hellhole a few months ago. Some co-worker who is very quirky has put Christmas Stockings on everyone's door and is putting junky dollar store stuff in them but it's the thought that counts. She put Christmas Cards on everyones desk after hours.

Our CFO guy who's kid killed himself a few years ago walks around with a big sac and he's giving out Hot Wheels cars. Asks if I want a Batmobile or a Hummer. A hummer if its from you. and ended up with batmobile.

This place is so much more relaxed than where I was and everyone is good people. I chased money a year and a half ago and should not have. I did not realize how good I had it.

today is one of my favourite days of the year. the vast majority of my customers supply garments to schools. with this being the final few days before the christmas school break, today is the final day for stuff to get picked up so my customers can get product to their customers before the schools close for 2 weeks. don't get me wrong - i still have lots of work to get done, but the 'urgency' is no longer there - any product that needs embroidery is now needed for the first week of january.

another thing that made me happy was something that happened last night at band practice. the guy who runs the band is 9-10 years older than me. he handed me an olllllld photo (from the late 70s/early 80s) and asked if i recognized the guys in the pic. a very young greg (the guy from my band) was on the left, but i wasn't sure about the guy on the right - he looked kind of familiar, but the floral printed shirt and huge side burns were messing with me. the other guy was my best friend's dad (he was greg's hockey coach in the early 80s)!!
i asked if i could text a pic of the photo to my best friend and that was fine.
i heard back right away (of course) and the cool thing was my buddy had never seen that pic of his dad. his dad died a few years ago so it was super cool for him to see a "new" pic of his dad in his younger days.

My youngest niece is going to be a mom, in June! I'm so thrilled for her and her husband.

Although, that will make me a great aunt. *gulp* I'm olllllld.

Got a body scan done today and I've gone from 28.8% body fat to 13.4%.
Tomorrow I compete in my first Hyrox.

2025 was the year where I finally made the health changes I had planned to make every January. It's not a midlife crisis, it's midlife crisis prevention.

My neighbour’s son showed up with his bigass snowblower. I usually clear her step and part of her driveway but when he comes around everything gets blown away!

I'm normally a very disciplined home worker, and generally love it. I prefer my home office because of dual screens, better chair, and I never work from the couch. I just work better that way.

Things are slowing down for the holidays, so I'm letting loose a little. I'm sitting here on the couch, beside the fireplace, sun streaming in through the window. My dogs are snuggled into me sunning themselves. I put egg nog in my coffee.

Very comfortable and satisfying.

My dog does that air hump thing when we come home. My kid knows his triggers to make it air hump and it pisses off my wife. Scream at the kid and tell me to stop laughing.

But dogs air humping and leg humping is absolutely hilarious and having passed down my sense of humour makes me happy.

Imagine if you had a buddy you could compel to wack off with a sound or something at any time but they did it innocently apologizing while they did it. I’d trigger that all the time.

Daughter arrived home from university Wednesday and son got home from his hockey billet family yesterday.

So great just having the noise of them and their friends around the last couple of days.

Opposite for me. I do much better at the office and today/tomorrow I will be the only one here. It's absolutely glorious, I don't have to see or talk to another soul until January.

Our eldest came by to help my husband with something on the house before hubby had to go to work, and brought my grandson at my/our request. First, it's pretty awesome having grown kids, especially when they can come by and hang with their dad and give him a hand with stuff, so that definitely makes me pretty happy.

Second, I took the grandson shopping for xmas presents for his mom and my son. He also ended up picking up a present for his auntie (my daughter) and his uncle (my other son), plus Grandpa and 2 little catnip toys for his cats. I was blown away with how much thought and consideration he put into what he was choosing - I thought he'd kind of breeze in, haphazardly pick some stuff, and we'd be done. But, he took a couple of turns around the gift section and "kept a few things in his head" of what he liked, that he thought his mom/my son/his aunt might like and then chose. His choices were considerate of their likes and in the case of his auntie, the choice was a somewhat unconventional thing as part of her gift - magnesium spray.

We were in a Pharmasave that also has a gift & clothing store upstairs, so we were downstairs after he chose stuff for mom & my son (he wanted goofy socks for my son, it's become a bit of a tradition, and they had more goofy socks downstairs than upstairs), wandering around, and happened to go down this one aisle and I saw the spray and mentioned I'd have to tell my daughter or pick it up sometime, as it's supposed to help with pain/sleep (we shall see, lol) and he immediately said "I want to get that for her, because she has a lot of pain and I don't like it. Can I get that for her?"

Absofrigginglutely, kiddo. Made me a bit verklempt, that he sees what she suffers through, and wanted to get her something that could help her. He got her some goofy socks as well, that are absolutely spot on, for something silly that happens with their cats and my daughter.

He knew exactly what he wanted for Grandpa - no ifs, ands, or buts. So off we trudged to Dollarama and he went hog wild in their chocolates/chocolate bar section. He also wanted to get him a couple of the Terrys chocolate oranges, so we went next door to Shoppers and he grabbed 2, then saw a small box of the Quality Street chocolates, so we added that to the haul. He knows Grandpa likes chocolate, so there was no persuading him otherwise, on a different gift - it had to be chocolate. Grandpa should have enough chocolate to last him until spring.

I let him use my Steam account, to get his uncle a gifted game that was on his Wishlist (yay & thank you, big old Steam sale), so he slammed out all his shopping in under 90 minutes. Came home, helped him wrap everything and he had great fun writing out all the tags.

I love this age he is. He really gets the whole Christmas deal this year - he went home and told his mom to give him some cleaning chores to do, so the house "would be perfect because he wants everyone to have the best Christmas this year." She didn't turn him down on the offer, because he's not always so inclined to be helpful, haha.

Tonight is Christmas Eve for him/us. He goes to his dad's on Christmas Day at lunchtime, so we're doing our whole xmas thing tomorrow. We get everyone xmas eve jammies, regardless of age and he loved that he got matching jammies to his mom & my son (thank you, Costco!)

Having a grandkid is such a blast. We've been taking him xmas shopping since he first came into our lives almost 5 years ago, because we wanted to teach him that everything isn't all about him & that it's good and fun to do nice things for other people. He's always had fun, but there was an extra element to it this year, where he's matured a bit, and understands all these concepts more, and I'm glad to see him leaning into this.

Grandsons really make me happy.

Just spent an hour and a half on my back in an ambulance. Refused to take me to hospital. If I don’t wake up tomorrow it will make me happy.

I refused to be clear.

I'M GETTING A PUPPY OF MY OWN FOR CHRISTMAS! I'm very excited & pretty damn happy about that. We'll go choose after Xmas. I haven't had a puppy of my own since I was 3.

Haha, I will post a pic, but I've had the name picked out for a long, long while already.

S###head is a perfectly acceptable name for a pup.

"Hey s###head! Come here s###head!!"

All the people in the dog park will be impressed.

"Hey...he answers to it..."

Two names I've always wanted to give a dog - first one is "Rabies", because it'd be fun to shout his name in public.

Second one would be "Payback", but only if it's a female dog.
